The Dukane thread will be interesting as I make picks with 4 schools I know nothing about. The conference should be pretty competitive top to bottom and it will be nice to get away from the stupid Midseason non conference games with WWS finally getting back to playing a full slate of home games.

I did notice they have already released the 2018 schedule with WWS playing Geneva, STE and Batavia right off the bat so it should be fun.

The southwest Suburban Guy (Bones) took the title over the vaunted line up of all these DVC “expert” game pickers!

My self esteem has Definately taken a hit;):(

Hopefully the Valleys and Naperville’s end up somewhere nice and cozy in the next year or two (not too close to LWE and HF I hope! That would be a repeat of the DVC meat grinder)

Good luck in the Dukane all!! I may still try and pick some games and see if I can pull a Crossbones and be the guy from another Conference to win the game picking title for the inaugural Dukane season!

6 of the 8 future "DuKane" teams made the playoffs this year so it should make for a quality league. From what I hear St. Charles North has a lot talent at the lower levels and Batavia is Batavia. Not sure about the future prospects for SCE, hopefully we will pick up some new posters to get us up to speed on our new teams.
And I agree, having two non-conference games at the start of the year is going to be a blessing for these former DVC teams. Curious to find out who they are able to schedule.

Sad to see such an institution go poof in the night. Granted, Neuqua was only in the DVC 2 years but living here since 1998 I have seen plenty of DVC games over the years.

Any word on what the 'Ville and Valley's will do next year and going forward?

They are pretty limited with options since they are an odd number and adding 5 teams would change any conference. If I were the Naperville schools I would look for a conference independent of the Valley schools since they may have more success landing elsewhere that way. The only problem with this is there has been such a big push to get all the 203 and 204 schools into a single conference.

Grouping by Geograpchy and by size.

Just a random musing.... will be interesting to see what happens and how things play out for the Naperville’s and Valleys.

Yea....I think they all are stuck together. If C & N leave then the Valley's would be SOL. But where would the "Ville schools go? DuKane? Was LP/WM/GN/WWS beef with the Valley's? I assume so.

I don’t know all the details but the Dukane DVC schools weren’t happy from the get go of the new conference and once GBN looked at going to the U8 it opened the other schools eyes to the possibility of forming a new conference.

WN will have a down year next year but should be strong after that. Losing 43 seniors is tough. Freshmen were undefeated so they will probably play the Caravan in the Championship in 3 years ;)'

Just an update from the St. Ed's/NC thread earlier this season. Ed's was ranked #2 in Ohio heading into the playoffs. They got beat last weekend by Mentor HS (Mitchell Trubusky's HS). Mentor beat another powerhouse, Cleveland St. Ignatius, tonight 23-21. And Colerain in Cincy beat the #1 team in the state, Cincy St. Xavier, 21-14, tonight. FWIW

13 plus 5 facing south is one idea, what about 5 plus 9 plus 10 (24)? Huntley, Jake and DC of the FVC fit with certain separate parts of the U8. You could field 4 divisions of 6 - teams might not balk if the DVC-5 was spread out over 3 divisions meaning no more than 2 certain losses for some teams.

For WWS I would go with 3-6 wins. They will have two decent classes on the varsity but they are lacking a QB. They need to tweak their offense since what is the point of using 4 WR’s if you can’t throw the ball?

This was year two of having a completely new varsity coaching staff and they improved greatly so I would figure year three will show more improvement.

Overall the talent at WWS is starting pick up again the freshman went 8-1 and are most talented class they have had for few years. The program has already bottomed out so things should get better going forward.

From what I saw (one game), looked like they had some nice high-end talent and good numbers on the soph level.

I believe "DeanofSelection" was asking about a way to early prediction on next years DVC & not the Dukane (I am waiting for Batavia's season to end before I start that) but I will join in with my Wheaton guys and throw some thoughts out.
Not sure what Falcon Padre meant by a "Down Year" for Wheaton North next year. Is that 4/5 wins? Upcoming WN Senior class was respectful as Sophomores.
Glenbard North loses a lot & their upcoming Senior class was not impressive as Sophomores. When they were Sophomores they did not have anybody listed up on Varsity because they were loaded that year & lost to eventual State Champion ESL on a last second Hail Mary.
Until they prove otherwise, I am going with Lake Park at 4 - 5 or 5 - 4 as they normally do under Coach Roll. Had a lot of Seniors and a lot of overall talent this year and still could not break out of the 4/5 win total.
Though they were a Senior dominated team this year, I would say about 8 Soph/Jrs. saw a lot of action this year. Three of those returners are D1 prospects. 6'3 290 OL Patrick Panasiuk has two brothers playing at Michigan State. 6'1 210 RB/LB David Hardwick-Kirkpatrick ran for 750 yards while splitting time at RB with a senior, and 6'2 205 DE Isaac Moore was a Unanimous All-DVC pick.

Yes I would say maybe 4 wins for WN next year. The Juniors were part of a very good sophomore team but for several reasons they lost a lot of those numbers. Some to wrestling some to Lax some to concussion concerns. 21 juniors for a school like WN is very discouraging but the soph and fresh numbers are very good with some nice talent so I expect one down year and then a pretty good run.

As far as the remaining DVC goes, I would say NC should dominate for the next several years. They are pretty loaded at the lower levels and their QB is returning. Should be one of the favorites next year to win 8A. NN is going to have some brutal seasons ahead. Metea will be a little better. Neuqua has great numbers so will be pretty tough as well as WV next year.

Totally agree with NC running the roost next year in the remains of the DVC. After them - I’m thinking it’s a crapshoot between NV,NN,WV. MV might be a little better but I still think they bring up the caboose of the much smaller Conference train in 2018.

As for the Dukane - I don’t know the 4 “Kane” teams all that well, but I think Batavia and East lose a ton of starters near as I can tell - In the same boat as WN, LP etc from what I’m thinking? So is it - rebuild or reload for each team?
