I don’t want to throw water on everybody’s parade, but this is Duke we’re dealing with. Clemson thought they had Zion Williamson in the bag and then when he committed to Duke it was a huge shock. Let’s just breathe easily and hope everything works out okay. I think it will, but again, we need to be careful here
No we don't. No amount of finger wagging on your part is going to make any difference. Everyone here understands what we are up against.

I think he meant, to make college choice based on other factors, not NIL $$ as #1 driving force.
I think he is being unrealistic this kid is being recruited by there schools that are extremely hard to get into. He can’t make a bad decision if he chooses Us Duke or Indiana. He is wearing scarlet colored glasses.

Yup tons of kids grew up dreaming of playing for John Scheyer. Coach K isn’t there anymore. He was the draw. Duke is no longer Duke.

Well, I would temper expectations a bit
I would expect both to play well as freshmen, but college life and tough games away take adjusting to
I would expect to make the tournament, but how far you go is tough to gauge

Now if both played three years I would guess a deep run.
Both playing for one year helps the program, but then I question how much benefit we get down the road....

I could be wrong but I think both play here multiple years, if they enjoy the college experience. Possibly parents influence in that direction also
I think it is highly highly highly unlikely that both players play multiple years.

These aren’t really solid high school recruits.

These are elite level guys who will get drafted early based on potential.

NBA scouts aren’t going to want them staying for multiple years. They’re going to want them working with NBA coaches ASAP.

It’s crazy but I really feel like he’s already a part of the team and R family. Never followed a high school recruit more closely. Even went to his playoff game last year at Bosco against SH prep and the Camden game at Kean this year. I really hope he stays home. If not please go to Duke or Auburn somewhere far away. If he goes to Indiana I will be physically sick
I doubt he chooses Indiana because that would be really a bad perception outcome for Rutgers having another league rival selected.

A good argument could be made that G-League Ignite is that.
Play full time basketball in a professional structure. No need to be distracted by classes and such.

Used to think that but after watching a segment on GLeague Ignite on Game Theory, I'm not so sure. The players are run ragged with social media engagements (at its roots - Ignite is a social media company) and the games mostly have been exhibitions in front of no crowds (I think this recently changed and they signed something in Vegas at the Dollar Loan Center). Yes they've had a few high draft picks (Green, Kuminga) - but I'm still on the fence about this.

I am in the minority here. Not terribly excited by having a one and done.
Get your point but it’s not much different than portal transfers with one year. Only now we’re talking superior talent; whether it’s talent realized or talent overhyped would need to be determined.

And, blue bloods seem to do just fine with one and dones…

This is ridiculous!

Of course you want Harper if he is a one and done.

He is only going to Rutgers or Duke and is having fun,as he should taking elite visits.

I am not in love with either, but the one and done is different. The one and done is playing college basketball because they have to. The one and done goal is always next gear.

The few G league games I've watched portions of is basically playground ball with a ton of missed shots.

Any elite guy who wants to do that should have their head examined.

Not one of the games had enough people there that they would even point the camera at them purposely. Not seeing the attraction for a player with any other option.

I'd be happy if we restock one and done players every year with other one and done's.
One and done would reflect the success of those players and thus go to NBA.
I would think we would be successful at winning games

This is the big thing - how is 2025 recruiting looking?

We're are potentially hoing to be without Bailey and Harper(🤞). For as great as it is to get them, they'll be gone just as soon.

This is the reason the recruiting classes at Duke and Kentucky are always much larger than ours, they have to reload every year. So when we take 3 recruits, they are typically bringing in 5 or 6. Will need to put more money and effort into recruiting if we are headed down this path.

I have to be honest. After watching Pike with a bunch of underrecruited guys, I am curious to see what he can do with players everyone wants.
There have been many coaches that have succeeded with under radar guys and then fail with on the radar guys.
