Is dad going to end up costing him a million or so because he overestimates his NIL value?
I think the whole saga is very juicy. We forgot that Rhule kept Donovan, probably the worst coach on a bad staff, just to keep Dylan, and Donovan's position group was the weak link on the team for three years, while not preparing any young talent. Donovan has been terrible the entire time, and firing him is not a "light bulb goes off" moment. Everybody in the program knew Rhule was bending over backwards to keep the Raiola's happy, for years now. So, did the AD force Rhule to get rid of the Raiola's. Was it a moment of clarity from Rhule, that you can't build a culture around one kid? Or did Dylan just give a big FU to Rhule and Rhule responded by firing Donovan. Is dad going to end up costing him a million or so because he overestimates his NIL value?

I think this is likely. But, in standard fashion, Nebraska has overpaid for disappointing results so he got rich at NU's expense like so many before and he'll stay well-off no matter what.Is dad going to end up costing him a million or so because he overestimates his NIL value?
People have to know this is the place to go for minimum effort but maximum money. NU is a ******* laughingstock. We are officially a program without a vision lead around by paycheck chasers
Near as I can tell Glenn Thomas sucks so hard to argue thatI heard they wanted Glenn Thomas gone as a stipulation to stay. I also heard that Dominic was frequently at practices and team meetings.
Don’t disagree. But incompetent coaching staff mixed with helicopter parents is a cluster ****.Near as I can tell Glenn Thomas sucks so hard to argue that
It certainly makes you wonder if Trev saw this whole dynamic taking place and realized that there was nothing he could do about it and just said F it.I think the whole saga is very juicy. Which is why Trev should never have risen above the level of washing windshields with newspapers on a busy roadway for pocket change. It certainly makes you wonder if Trev saw this whole dynamic taking place and realized that there was nothing he could do about it and just said F it.
Yeah I am just glad to move on and save the money. I don't dislike Dylan as a kid, but he wasn't the player for us that we thought he would be. So many 5 star QBs turn out not to be and I would say this is an example of it.Dom is far worse than Casey. It's going to cost Dylan millions, but who cares at this point.
Live and learn.
And now people are stressing about the rich kids finances. The kid who likely has 3 or 4 million dollars invested already, as a 19 year old.So we are doing the trashing of the player and now his family.
Now the fake rumors are coming out...
Next should be...
Yep...it will be something about how "We don't really want 5 star players anyway, too much to deal with, give me those diamonds in the rough"
Right??And now people are stressing about the rich kids finances. The kid who likely has 3 or 4 million dollars invested already, as a 19 year old.
Really stupid post. People trashing this kid and his fam look like total douchebags. Embarrassed to be part of the same fanbase.
Oh come on. Fans reacting negatively to their star player or coach taking his talents to another team has gone on forever. Nebraska is no different than any other. Especially with these kids now getting paid millions, they're just much more open targets now. If it really bothers you that bad, then being a fan of college or pro sports might not be for you. Within reason, the "don't be mean to the poor players" mentality pretty much only applies to high school level and below these days.
Nah. Trev realized it was going to be tough to get NU back to where the fans want it. A&M had already hired a better head coach and has a better NIL base. Their fans aren’t spoiled by multiple natties and have more realistic expectations. They’re also in a MUCH better geographical recruiting location. Couple all that with the pissing match that erupted over south stadium and I think he decided to take the money and run.It certainly makes you wonder if Trev saw this whole dynamic taking place and realized that there was nothing he could do about it and just said F it.
Actually he wasn’t getting what some have said. His total package was roughly a million/year. I believe he’s classified as an independent contractor so that takes 15.3% right off the top for SE tax. The top IRS bracket is 37% and then Nebraska gets their cut. Maybe he took home 600k/year. I’m not crying for him but IF he can attract more money in the portal from a state with no income tax, he would be a fool to stay at NU.Right??
"His family really messed things up for him! I bet by the age of 22 he will have only made like 5 million dollars"
The finance bros will be posting next...it will be something like
"We, sure, he might have made 5 million dollars before 22 BUT I bet 10% goes to an agent and then you have taxes, so really he is only walking away with like 2 million, really not enough to be comfortable"
Hey, they wanted to get paid. This comes with the territory. So we are doing the trashing of the player and now his family.

I'm not emotionally tied to him being here or not. I see a kid that I hope does make it to the NFL and that pathway might be best elsewhere. He was a good player for the most part but not irreplaceable and not 5 star despite his rating during recruitment. He CAN get better but has a lot to work on. People had no problem trashing the OL while he was QB but he did them no favors either with how he operated in the pocket.Oh come on. ...by all accounts, as far as I know, DR has behaved like an adult about this. Our fanbase (at least some of them) can't say the same. Its embarrassing.
No one is being treated like dogshit. They are wealthy for life. You equate somebody getting paid with a license to treat them like dogshit?

They are being slandered anonymously on an internet message board that I am quite confident they don't look at. It's been happening to professional athletes since the beginning. They'll live.
Why he kept Don at this point may be his biggest mistake as Dylan was still committed to Georgia and is where this whole drama starts
100% agree, take all you can when you can.Actually he wasn’t getting what some have said. His total package was roughly a million/year. There’s no way he’s put away millions of dollars from his time at NU and I doubt his shoe contract is all that much. One arm injury and his career is over. He HAS to get all he can while he can.
You're right, happens everywhere. I've been on some of the other teams' boards during coaches searches later and see similar stupidity and crassness everywhere. Doesn't mean we want to be part of it or wade through it in every(hyperbole, I know it's not literally every thread) thread about our team.Until all the fans of the glory days of Nebraska football let the past go and move on they will never be satisfied. I've stopped trying to think of Nebraska as a National contender, I just look for them to be a competitive BIG team, for now.
Again, if there is true stuff to rip on, that is cool.Hey, they wanted to get paid. This comes with the territory.
Again, if there is true stuff to rip on, that is cool.
But clearly this is all made up crap, like it was with Frost and like it was with Bo.
That the players on the team didn't like himWhat, specifically is made up? I've seen mostly fact or opinion drawn from fact.
