I'm setting this up a tad early, as I have all kinds of family functions to attend today. I don't expect to be very active in the thread.

Please use this thread for all pre-game, in-game, and post-game discussion of the 2025 Eagles - Commanders (1st game), which takes place at 5 pm EST today (12/20/25).

Go Birds!!!

I would concur with this tweet. I'm currently not all that far (relatively speaking) from the stadium, and the weather is quite nice.

This is why we can’t have nice things this season. Sigh.

3 and out on the Eagles first possession. I’m not sure what Hurts was thinking throwing to Smitty short of the sticks.

I didn’t get a complete look, but AJ looked open beyond the marker.

Great second possession ends in a TD. They relied almost exclusively on the pass there and used some interesting formations and pre-snap motion.

Christ. Elliott misses a chip shot FG and the Eagles get zilch on a long drive.

Their struggles on 1st down continued on that drive. They face 2nd or 3rd and 10 too often.

Hurts continues to drive us crazy with his accuracy. He's missed a couple wide open receivers.

When you give bad teams life, you get beat. The Eagles continue to have that air of a collapse about them.

When the RB gets stopped and turned backwards, their forward progress is stopped. Whistle should have been blown.

This offense is so frustrating with how every step forward seems to be followed by two steps backward.

4th & 4, 0:18 left in the half, ball on the Commanders 39 ...

Birds call TO just as the play clock was running out

Then they send out Elliott to attempt a 57-yard FG ...

and it looked good for most of the journey, but the kick went wide left. However, the Commanders get flagged for offsides.

That's a 1st down, with 0:13 left, so Hurts is back out.

1st down: attempt to DeVonta is out of bounds. 0:09 left

Elliott to attempt a 52-yard FG ...

and again, it's wide left

smh

I was going to say "I'm not real worried about Elliott" but those 2 misses--yikes.

Geez. I hope the team doctor can pull their collective head out of their azz at halftime.

What a pathetic first half performance by the Eagles. Elliott misses 2 FGs (officially). And the clock management on their last possession was awful. I have no idea why they didn’t hurry things up to try and get in the end zone.

They’re in collapse mode, gang. There’s no sugar coating it.

Today is why I rolled my eyes at all the “Eagles are fixed” prognostications after last week.

The offense is still one dimensional. That may be more schemes and play calling than talent. But today is a real head scratcher in terms of their plan.

It looks like Hurts to AJ backyard football with 9 other guys out there. Where’s Goedert? No screen passes or dump offs in space for Barkley?

Not getting the snap off before the 2 min warning was bush league.

Second time this week I’ve seen an interception on a long fourth down pass. How do these guys not understand how foolish it is? A a Db you have to knock the ball down unless you have a clear path to a huge return.

It was situationally dumb, but moot with the penalty.

You can’t take off your helmet, beat your chest, run to the end zone, do a little skit and throw up I’m #1 signs if you purposely drop it though.
