But after four games last year, Barkley had more yards rushing than he has after seven games this year. So even though they were 2-2, things looked like they were working. This year, the running game and OLine blocking looks broke and I’m not sure how they can fix it.Lots of people said they were done at 2-2 last year. Rumblings about getting rid of Sirianni. Get to their bye week. Suddenly they run off win after win. Long way to go this season. They have their bye week coming up which they used for the spring board last year. Passing game has woken up. Running game has shown glimpses. They get the running game going again and IMHO they easily make another run for the title. This is the youngest defense in the league Fangio is going to work them and they will continue to get better as the season wears on. I agree Howie needs to make a move for dline, be interesting to see if they get Hendrixson. They have plenty of picks. Still possibly need a corner as well. Everyone wanted Rodgers to stay but Devontae and AJ torched him pretty good yesterday.
Well they have probably the best Oline coach in history or one of the best who is also their run game coordinator. Listening the olinemen and barkley interviewed a lot of it is fixable. When they break down the game film some of it has been bad technique, some missed assignments, other problems like the rb taking a bad or wrong hole to run through, etc. Defenses have also started stacking the box with players and forcing Hurts to beat them over the top. The players have all said it is fixable the things we are seeing wrong. We saw flashes against the Vikings that Barkley started getting some longer runs or 7,8,9 yards. Another part is the players have admitted to is being "tired" and sore from last year. It's a long season. Mailata said usually 2-3 weeks after the season he would be sore and tired then it was gone. He said after last season the soreness and tired lasted up the mini camp. Chiefs players have said the same thing during their super bowl runs. When you make a super bowl run it takes your body a long time to recover in the off season. We have the bye week coming up. They will do a lot of self scouting during that time and work on cleaning things up with the oline. The way I look at it is the Eagles have a very difficult schedule, probably the hardest in the league. To be sitting here at 5-2 playing the Giants before the bye week if you had asked me if I would take that at the start of the season I would have said absolutely. The Cowboys defense is brutal. Washington we knew with a much more difficult schedule and being the oldest team in the NFL would most likely fall back which they are. The Giants are the Giants. All in all I will take where they are at this point in the season. They win against the Giants to go into the break at 6-2 with that schedule. I will take it.But after four games last year, Barkley had more yards rushing than he has after seven games this year. So even though they were 2-2, things looked like they were working. The season is almost halfway over….if it’s fixable it probably should have been done by now. They’re not just missing a block or two, they are far worse than the Giants OLines were when Barkley was there. The running game at this point is nonexistent.Well they have probably the best Oline coach in history or one of the best who is also their run game coordinator. Welp.... they are in first place in their division and basically tied with a few other teams for the best record in the conference half way through season. I will gladly take that based on their schedule. I do believe they will get it all figured out. We shall see.... Until then I will enjoy a solid season so far.The season is almost halfway over….if it’s fixable it probably should have been done by now. revisionist history. the OL went and asked to run the ball more after the bye week, which is when they were 2-2. after that the still struggled Remember Cleveland? remember they couldnt score in the first quarter? SB will be the first to tell you, its not about him, its about the team. they at 5-2 be happy with thatBut after four games last year, Barkley had more yards rushing than he has after seven games this year. I think their OL is more injured than we know . I think LD is still hurting, and I dont think JM has played as well as he can. CJ is just going to limp thru the season it seems. I hope they all get better. I think this week might be a real test.Well they have probably the best Oline coach in history or one of the best who is also their run game coordinator. I know people have been half joking asking Kelce if he can come back like Graham with Juergens hurt. But definetly some truth to it as well. Kelce has nicely said no thank you. I think you are right as well that LD is really battling injuries. All Eagles players say he is the toughest player they have ever seen, we have no idea what injuries he is playing through at times. Eagles were blessed to get through the season not too banged up last year. Injuries are catching them this year a little bit. Still feel good about where they are at this point and think they have plenty of time to get it all sorted before a playoff run. (Assuming they make the playoffs)I think their OL is more injured than we know . I think LD is still hurting, and I dont think JM has played as well as he can. I m not disagreeing w that. My point the O wasn’t world beaters all season long. They struggled for a while. I don’t think it’s play calling I think it’s injuries to some. Some not playing as well as they can.But they’re not going to win a SB with no running game. They got to the SB last year because of the running game.
I think a lot has to do with play calling…the two games prior to the last game Barkley carried the ball 17 times combined and once in the second half in a game where they had the lead. That’s just coaching malfeasance.I m not disagreeing w that. My point the O wasn’t world beaters all season long. They struggled for a while. And the question is who is that on? Patullo? Sirianni? Hurts optioning at the line?I think a lot has to do with play calling…the two games prior to the last game Barkley carried the ball 17 times combined and once in the second half in a game where they had the lead. imo ultimately it is on Nick. They have 18 million coaches on the staff, why not have 1 or 2 track how many carries SB has, that way Nick, dials him up, and says 'how many carries does SB? have' and he gets an answer. They he goes to Patullo and tells him to run the ball more. They have calls where JH doesn't have the option to change the play. And the question is who is that on? Patullo? Sirianni? Hurts optioning at the line?
Should it matter? When you have a lead in the second half, even pee wee coaches know that you run the ball to take time off the clock especially when you have Saquon Barkley. And the question is who is that on? Patullo? Sirianni? Hurts optioning at the line?
