Dude. What a first round for Philly. Crushed it.

Seriously. Those that follow this stuff closely were hoping that the Birds took advantage of their 2 picks. Only an off-the-charts optimist could have imagined they would get Carter and Smith, and only have to give up a 2024 4th round pick to move up (for Carter) in the process.

Only time will tell if Carter and Smith live up to their projections, but the odds seem to favor that happening.

Howie further cemented his reputation.

In my opinion the Eagles made the best pick of the first round. How the heck does Jalen Carter a 2 or 3 pick slide down to number 9 is amazing and confusing to me. Whether it’s fate, luck or skill doesn’t really matter. Congratulations to the scouts who rarely get any recognition and are usually overshadowed by GM’s.

Carter slid because of concerns about his character. It’s not complicated.

Totally agree Tom. Eagles are the best organization in football. And yes, I am a homer, but that doesn't make what I said less true ;)

Lol, SAS is going off on how the Eagles crushed last night. It’s been an incredible draft for them.

Washington got an F for their pick on some website (Bleacher Report?). No other team had worse than a C minus.

Is you want to see a messed up draft look at who Detroit took????? A running back not named Robinson when they have Swift on the team and just signed Montgomery from Da Bears - WTF?

Yeah, that Detroit pick just didn’t register.

I was initially disappointed with Washington’s #16 pick of CB Forbes from SEC MSU, but he has great takeaway skills, I’m seeing. Well, love my WFT, always will. I suspect that my initial disappointment is in part due to Porter not being the WFT pick. There had been plenty of mocks sending Porter to WFT, shucks.

How about tonight?? I’d like the safety from Alabama, Brian branch

He would be ideal. The chances of him lasting until the Birds' pick at 62? Slim to none, IMHO.

I think OL, Safety, and CB are their biggest needs, so it wouldn't surprise me to see them use the 62nd and the 66th pick on those positions. Will Howie make a trade to get somebody? Hard to know, but I'm sure he/his team will be exploring that option if they are enamored with somebody they don't think will last until their picks.

Edit: after checking a bunch of reports, and thinking a bit more about this, I think I'd add RB and TE to the list of biggest needs.

I think they have plans with Swift. Last year of his rookie deal. He was hurt last year and even when healthy lost a lot of snaps to Williams, who they let leave. I think they move Swift soon or know they aren't resigning him.

Yeah, I've seen a few articles indicating as much. It almost seems as though Detroit is looking to trade him, though one would think that they would have gotten more for Swift before the draft.

Draft lead in just mentioned it 30 minutes ago.

It is Detroit. 🤷‍♂️

Doesn’t look like we’ll be getting any meaningful running back help out of this draft. That’s my one disappointment. I’d still like to see some stud added. Maybe someone will get released from another team.
