Boy does this dude have a clean quick stroke. He had no problem scoring against Bama's physical team.

This guy should be Popes #1 prospect in the portal next year. I could see him def being a 2 or 3.

Agree. He may already be better than anyone on our team. Seems to be able to shoot and attack the rim.

Bet money UT gets a hold of this guy.. Barns gonna tell him “ I’ll run the offense through you” just like Dalton and Chaz …

He’s not very consistent according to game logs, and I have to know how he would play defense. Obviously dude can score but we should be very picky wbout getting the best all around guard we can next year.

I’m pretty skeptical about players who can’t put up decent rebounding and defensive numbers at the low major level. He also shot only 38% from the field including less than 40% from 2 during conference play.
Mine as well, obviously those numbers pop but a deep dive reveals some things that worry me. Imagine him trying to finish in the SEC. He does have a quick shot and size though. If he would be okay coming off the bench I’d say maybe give him a shot. I’d say he’s gonna get some big money offers.

Player A: Freshman, 15 Pts, 46% 2PT, 38% 3PT, 5.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.7 TO, .9 steals, .3 blocks

Player B: Junior, 19 pts, 47% 2PT, 36% 3PT, 2.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.2 TO, 1.1 steals, .2 blocks

Call it a wash in terms of athleticism. Who do you prefer? Is it close?

How are each player’s athleticism and defensive ability?

Those should be factors as well. We need a major athletic upgrade over this year’s team, preferably guys who can stop straight line dribble penetration.

I added a little more. To me they have pretty similar defensive performances and similar athleticism.

Hard to say for sure without knowing some extra info like what position they play and level of competition faced, but based purely on those numbers, I’d rather have player A. They seem to be a significantly better rebounder and maybe a slightly more creative passer while all the other numbers are close to identical. Plus if they’re only a freshman, there might be more room for projected growth than with a player who’s already a couple of years older.

Basically identical listed heights and weights, and let’s call them both combo guards.

Yes, then I would definitely say player A in that case. They seem a little more versatile with those rebounding and assist numbers, plus they’re younger and would have a better chance at improving.

No!!!!

1) he makes 35.9% from 3, which is ok, but not great.
2) he is VERY streaky. yes, he scored 40 against Alabama, and 51 in another game. He also only had 6 the game after 51, and 0 two games prior. In over half of his games (18 of 33) he made 2 or fewer 3's. In fact in his last 4 games he went 0-4, 0-4, 8-18, 0-2.

I would take him as a bench player, but there will be better 3pt shooters in the portal.

LOL, every honk 6-9 or taller that can hit a 3 will be front and center here, threads made about, pimped out as the next coming of Dirk. We only have about 5/6 spots for the ROSTER, 3 or so for the front court. But somehow 80 players will be listed as "MUST GET' or "SHOULD BE Pope's #1 portal option". How about waiting until THIS season is over, and who actually is interested in UK and vice versa, THEN make a list instead of seeing highlights or stats of EVERY player.

He was brought up on the Bama board last week and that was the response one of the writers over there gave. He torched Bama and one other team this season. After that he was pretty pedestrian.
