What is the world coming to, in which there is such a thing as the "Guaranteed Rate Bowl"? That's worse even than the Chick-Fil-A End Zone. Do all of our pleasures have to be commercialized to this extent? While at this Bowl in Arizona, one could visit the Jiffy-Lube Saguaro National Forest or the Taco Bell Desert Museum. An institution which participates in such a bowl could hardly be characterized as liberal. None-the-less, Go Cats! Earn a bowl game this year!--preferably one named after a fruit or a flower.

Sadly, we will never win the Outback Bowl -- we had our 2 chances. It is now the..... ReliaQuest Bowl

My two favorite names were the Poulan Weedeater Bowl and the Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl.

Poulan Weedeater Independence Bowl was perhaps the first truly absurd one.

For me, the worst bowl name ever sits on the ring of honor at Ryan Field — the TicketCity Bowl. As I recall, this forgettable game was called the Dallas Football Classic in early December, when NU was named, but found a late title sponsor.

TicketCity.com is still kicking, tho their 3-star app only has nine reviews in the app store.

How quickly we forget the GalleryFurniture.com and Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowls!

I've been to both. While the Jiffy-Lube Saguaro National Forest is only good for making a strange version of tequilla and not that interesting, the Taco Bell Desert Museum is mouth watering, or breathing, whichever.

Then you've had the Jiffy-Lube Margarita and the Javelina Taco?

What souvenirs did you eat bring home from the Desert Museum?

Bowl projections already? They may as well start projecting who are the #1 seeds for the next NCAA Basketball Tournament.

That was a terrible game as well. Temps barely above freezing and Persa-less offense of ineptitude.

Good catch. We should also mention that he said that with regards to this very same topic… which he posted over there, wow! Which one is it, @CoralSpringsCat ? Care to walk on the wild side that is the free board?

Yeah, but 50 yard line seats of your choice at the Cotton Bowl were a treat. Kain Colter sacrificing a year of eligibility by playing in that game was the real loss.

If I remember correctly, Colter burned his redshirt in the Illinois or Wisconsin game prior to the bowl game. Under the current rule, he'd have still kept his redshirt, as he played fewer than four games. 2014 would have been a different season with Kain and Venric on the team.

When was the last time a B1G team fell off the end of the B1G bowl tie-ins? The last 3 years where that was even possible were 2018, 2016, and 2015, and it didn't happen any of those years.

IIRC in 2007 we and Iowa both finished 6-6 but neither of us made a bowl game.

But, while we didn’t make a bowl, those extra weeks of practice that the NCAA allowed for bowl eligible teams likely helped get the team ready for the transformative 2008 season.
