Well on paper/experience you'd have to give Marist a huge edge in winning the ESCC and going far in 8A. They have Taylor (QB) back along with Harrell (RB) Skalitzky (WR) Ivy (TE/WR) and Greene (OL) along with McCabe (DE), Teague (DT) and Meehan (LB) back. Ivy, Teague and McCabe are all Power 5 conference type FBS players.

As for the Blue teams - I'd say it's a total toss up.
Rice has O'Keefe (TE), Marazos (OT) Sullivan (G), transfer RB in from Indiana, Williams/Plunkett (RBs). QB will the ? with Sullivan/Bean and Smyth all in the running. On D - Green (DE), Ruffin (DT), Veal (LB), Means (DB) and Richardson (K) are all key players.

MC has a solid group back - Thomas is a great player - will Taylor stay or go?
Provy has a lot of underclassmen back but they lost their QB and Warfield
Loyola lost a bunch as did Rita (but they do have their QB, K and Jones back)

BR has a lot coming back.

MC if Thomas has a great spring plying baseball does he jeopardize an Division I scholarship. If he plays in the fall they will do better than this years 0-4 in the blue.

SR has a lot coming back on offense but can they tackle anyone?

PC coaching holds them back.

BR is the best of the Southside blue teams, MC rides upon what Thomas does, SR is the dark horse, PC loses players to one of the Lincoln Ways.

Rice will be better a Team then last year, not better talent but better TEAM
Disagree rice lost a ton and will be very Jr laden team. While I think they still sneak into the playoffs. They are a year away it's is hard to be better than 8-1 with majority jrs. As for the rest of ccl blue sr, mc, and pc all rebound and make they playoffs . Loyola will continue being loyola.

Rice lost a ton with Borelli, Holiday, Houston, Olson, and of course the great Ricky Smallings...the juniors are loaded, but they're a year away from making real noise. I'll give my other predictions in 7 months after I know whose standing at MC

I heard Taylor might be going to suburban school like The Brook or HF... anyone hear that?
As for Rice, yes they lost a lot on O but what good did that get them? 1st Round exit. I agree with the comment above, overall the team could actually be better. Their Sophs didn't lose a game as Frosh or as Sophs so there is some talent coming up - case in point from Edgy's own Evaluation recently - 2 Juniors to be

113 Jalen Rheams Brother Rice DL- sophomore good sized kid looked solid in one on ones. Again was one of several impressive younger DL here.

5 Evan Kirtz Brother Rice DL- sophomore again here. Bigger kid longer and also just a big body with real upside physically. Needs to improve overall DL skills and technique but again has real upsiude and is a name to watch.

Kirtz is a big boy. Plus I would assume they'll bring up another Soph or 2 as well.

I haven't heard anything about Taylor, but nothing would shock me. Unless it's a financial issue, kinda ****** to walk out on your team senior year for another local school

Here is the kid who transferred into Rice (moved to Chicago)

Looks like a fine back, but I really liked what I saw with Jesse Plunkett. He'll be a junior, been with the program and excelled for 2 years, if I'm Badke, Plunkett gets the nod. What part of Indiana is this guy from that they would move his senior year?

Merrilville. They have this kid, Williams and Plunkett. All different types of runners. Plunkett I agree is a solid player - more of low to ground scat back. All have good hands. Ideally they can look to put Williams at Free Safety

Or the new popular thing happens and one of them transfers.

Yeah - it's crazy - I would hope that Williams stays regardless. He's a good athlete so if he's not playing RB he could fit into WR (slot) like Houston was or move to FS easily. What's the latest with Taylor at MC? He'd be a hit losing him if that happens

I didn't ask anyone yet, I don't want to know the answer! I saw he posted something on MC Twitter and his account says MC Class of 2018....so he's still there...depressing, I thought this could be a State Championship year, then we lose Griffith and Brown and now possibly Taylor....not to mention another LB who played varsity as a Soph in that class and quit playing last season to concentrate on baseball...I hope your source on Taylor is false!

They are six to eight deep on that D line Kirtz being five or six.

They will have four backs with Summers included in the mix 2 juniors 2 seniors as well as a couple interesting options as well.

Bring back three offensive lineman, maybe the best three.

Need to play defensive and have better coaching to succeed though as the talent seems to be coming in the doors.

Hoping so. Defense was a killer last year.
. All the talent was on the O side. Program is miles ahead of schedule from were it use to be in my opinion.
What helps a program is everyone being on the same page from administration, coaches, parents, and players. Most importantly alumni being positive in all aspects and staying in their lane especially after tough lost. Letting the coaches coach and the players play. And donating, if you got it give it.
Positivity breeds success

Nye got a bad rap IMO...he took BR to the semi finals, the quarterfinals a few times...Badke has been one and done 3 times, no playoffs once, one quarterfinal experience....Not knocking him honestly, he is a talented coach, just lets his emotions take over too much

Nye got everything that came to him.
-refused to recruit.
-unapproachable to parents/kids
-completely turned off the big alumnus
I will take emotion over all that any day

Provi will use starting WR last year as QB (Kalinowski). The RB will be by committee with Deshon Gavin probably taking over feature role. OL will be strength of offense with 4 out of 5 being Jr's last year. The varsity coaching change has happen as well on the offensive side so should be interesting to see how it all pans out.

I agree with you.

I have been told he is actually a pretty good guy. I think he should come back to coach defense.

Badke needs to recruit and things of that nature I just don't think he should be in charge of running a unit.
