This is an absolutely seismic flip by Lea. Time will tell, of course, how Curtis pans out. But, for now, Vandy just went and took the #1 QB in the country from UGA. Vandy. Curtis is a recruit Vandy will be able to build around using the portal.

This is, of course, horrific news for us.

That sound you hear is us slipping down the SEC ladder.

What do our prospects look like if Vandy is no longer considered a reliable win? We count on that win most years. Vandy has been our version of food stamps. Something the SEC gives us in order to maintain base level sustenance.

Two questions
1. Will Vandy be starting a stadium renovation/expansion?
2. Is Mama Curtis following in Mama Pavia footsteps?

And the long shot hit its target. Curtis committing will get attention from other recruits on that side of the ball either with the incoming class and/or transfers later.

And they currently have a QB who will be in New York for the Heisman ceremony.

This is all calamitous for us.

They recently finished a renovation. I think anything subsequent will prioritize quality over quantity.

I haven't seen the Curtis thing on ESPN as of just now.

How much NIL money does Vandy have? Pavia claims they have a ton. I haven't cared to research.

Yeah, nobody really knows how much any school has for NIL, though lots of assumptions are made.

No doubt Vandy has gobs of very wealthy alumni. I heard Pavia say they had "tons" for NIL, but who knows what that means?

Do we now need to hope that Vandy falls off of our schedule for the near future?!? :eek:o_O

EDIT: It looks like we miss them next year, but see them in '27 and in '29 when I'm sure Curtis will be in his prime.

Unbelievable - I`m sure we backed off when he committed to UGA. Understandable can`t believe Vandy didn`t. So we lose Stockton because Bobo left for UGA and this guy jilts UGA for Vandy? My question is why - playing time?

Please stop the man-o-pausal histrionics…Vandy caught lightning in a bottle, so what? They don’t have the physical, financial, or cultural infrastructure to move us to doormat status—YET. No coach stays at Vandy longterm, and the portal is finicky. They had a very successful year, but cummon

I'm not sure this commitment, if it is a commitment, is necessarily representative of a seismic shift. The kid from Nashville Christian is seriously considering the hometown university after the most successful year in said university's history. Is it really that surprising, especially considering the days of 5-star QBs riding the bench for years at places like Alabama and Georgia are over?

Make no mistake, it's not GOOD news for us, but I just don't think it's a sign of the apocalypse or something like that.

This was not a shock to me. Lea is a rising star in the collegiate coaching ranks. In his 4th season (last year) at Vandy, he took them to a bowl and won. In this his 5th season, he led them to a 10-2 record and in the hunt for a playoff berth.

If that does not convince you, look at their stats . There are 134 teams in FBS. Vandy was 11th in offense and 54th in defense. Thus, they do both sides of the ball well. On offense , they were 40th in rushing and 13th in passing. On offense, they are balanced; they are not one-dimensional. I don't know about you guys but, I'm envious..

Oh, one other thing: Vandy embarrassed us this season on our home field.

Vandy is rich as three feet up a bull's *** in general. They are a national power in baseball because they have basically limitless scholarships to give through their endowment. They don't have to worry about NCAA limits.
If I read correctly recently, since Vandy is a private university, it doesn't have to report it's NIL contributions. They have a whole bunch of NIL money, we know that. NIL has destroyed college football, but to each their own.

You’re obviously very tired and nonsensical. Let’s revisit it tomorrow.
And you need some midol because you’re waaayyy overplaying this—I can practically hear your ovaries. I understand you’re clutching your pearls and your Xannies, but Vandy isn’t going to put us in the used VHS bin anytime soon.

Vandy just completed arguably their best season ever, they have arguably the Heisman front-runner, they just flipped the #1 QB in America (a feat we have never accomplished), they have a head coach who is objectively widely regarded as a very good coach who is from Nashville and is a Vanderbilt alum, so he ain't leaving for a better job anytime soon. They WILL build from the portal around Curtis.

I'm sure you're one of the ones who said we would beat Vandy this year simply b/c they're Vandy. Then they came in and molested us for 4 quarters.
Meanwhile, we just completed one of our worst seasons in recent memory. Had one of the worst P4 offenses. Arguably the worst OL in P4 and nearly the worst in all of FBS. We can't find an OC anywhere in America to run our offense for next year.

If your only rationale is "they're Vandy" then you don't understand anything about football.

Think the young man wanted the chance to start day 1. And, I’m not sure who Vandy is bringing back on the O Line, but, seems like quite the adjustment to go from reading private school defenses to the SEC. He might be running for his life next year 🤷‍♂️
