East Surry needs JV games

Bishop has a JV team, why aren't they on Mount Airy or East Surry's schedule as a conference game ? They have 8 games schedules but none after 10/03/19... They have North Stokes scheduled twice, 8/29 & 9/26...

Bishop is playing a limited JV schedule this year. Had to beg kids to come out from my understanding so this is what they decided to do. Playing South Stokes on 10/3 and not when they play them in Varsity. My opinion they didn't want any part of ES or MA with the talent they have.
I am a bit surprised they were allowed to hand pick their schedule. I guess jv is different.
The Northwest conference puts Mount Airy & East Surry in terrible spots, in almost all sports. There is always a Bishop, WS Prep, or another school that doesn’t have a JV team in this or that, and sometimes don’t have a varsity sport. Scheduling nightmares.
This conference needs to change. Brings no gate from Forsyth schools. They need to put Bishop........Prep......Carver...Atkins..,......walkertown....in a 1a 2a split conference. Then MA ,ES, Stm, Elkin, EWilkes, Allhegany, NStokes S Stokes in a 1A only conference
I know Mountain Heritage’s JV’s have some open dates coming up. Not sure if they match up with ES’s open dates or not though.
If they put prep, Atkins, Carver, north Forsyth,bishop, walkertown together they would set records for low gate.
That's why the huge county of Forsyth has more pull in forcing Surry County schools to play Forsyth county schools, they get money from our small county and give us next to none. They hit us in 1A and 2A. Nothing fair about any of the Forsyth County open enrollment schools being in the Northwest 1A or Western Piedmont 2A conferences unless you are a Forsyth County School.
By the way, East Surry JVs are Looking for JV games on 10/3, 10/10, and 10/17.
Elkin, E.Wilkes, & Allegany don't want to play in the NWC because they are afraid they would never win another conference championship playing Mount Airy & East Surry. Elkin feels more a part of Wilkes & Yadkin counties then Surry because of being located on the borders of Wilkes & Yadkin counties and gets probably as much if not more money to their economy money from those than Surry County alone.

East and Elkin both wouldn't have an issue being back with Mt. Airy and East Surry imo. Granted Surry treats Elkin like a redheaded step child. Mark Payne is the one that's holding onto the MVAC.
Teams play in the conference they are placed in. No one ducks anyone or is afraid. Some comments seem so lame..just to take shots at other teams. No wonder you always feel left out TDfriday. East Wilkes has beaten East Surry and Mt. Airy..but it isn't that often at all . Both MA and ES are very good teams and, have very good programs consistently. EW has no consistency. They get a wave of good players, but the consistency is gravely lacking to say the least.

I repeat what I hear over the years and from reliable sources, as does probably most on hear does. And I Do Not feel left out as I can care less anymore what is said to about me or on my posts. It's not worth being bothered about anymore. I just post what I want when I want and as others seem to not care what they say n neither do I. You could have been a little rougher on me, I still would not care ! You and others have posted things I did not like or agree with but I did not get on here and put you down or belittle you. Those days are gone, being bothered over being belittled ! As everyone else does I post things to get other opinions. Thunder_struck871 gave an opinion different from mine and I gave it a like. I support EW. I dont have time to sit around and make up scared to play or get in conferences because of what teams are there. For years no one around here could hold Starmounts jock strap..yet teams that were picked to be in their conference had to play them. If MA, EW, and ES were picked to be in the same conference..im sure no one would choose not to play each other out of fear...sounds kind of silly. As far as EW...i support them...but im also a realist..there program isn't consistent..it's not belittling them..it's just factual. There isn't a consistent winning program in Wilkes County sad to say. There are plenty of athletes throughout the county. It's a huge county and the athletes are pretty spread apart..so is the talent...big rural county lot of farm boys..should be a lot of strength county wise..but all the speed is only at Wilkes Central.
North Stokes is trying hard to play a JV schedule with only 12 players it is hard but they are giving 100 percent every night.

" they are afraid" to "know" . We aren't affraid to play Mt Airy or East Surry...but realistically I know the odds of us beating them is slim to none. Just like when I saw our new out of conference schedule this season and I saw Mount Airy, North Surry, and Walkertown replaced Bishop McGuinness,north,and south stokes...I was thinking omg what the **** are we doing scheduling those guys. I know it's supposed to "make you tough" for playoffs....but you have to make the playoffs...right now we are like 43rd in adjusted maxpreps ranking(only 48 make the dance). Guarantee we would be ranked higher if we had beaten our normal scheduled teams. I thought I heard from someone we scheduled North Surry to get prepared for Ashe County air raid...well we will find out this Friday if it worked. Hope it does. Go Trojans!

When the Northwest 1A had, Mount Airy, East Surry, Alleghany, East Wilkes, Elkin, Starmount, South Stokes, and North Stokes as members...it was hands down the best 1A athletic conference in the state with multiple state championships in all sports.

It also had far better gates than the NWC gets now. Also more competitive games.
Carver brought maybe 5 people to North last year.. it was amazingly depressing seeing the MA news game pics with all the silver bleachers. The year we played Community School of Davidson at North they brought 10+ times more people and they a private school! Sad.
Don't Carver and other away teams get a percentage of the gate and if so what is the breakdown ?
Conference wise I'm not sure, I know in non conference when they played those Forsyth 4A's they used to, it was the only reason they did because they owe a lot $. They took the embarrassment for the checks.
I know when we played them on JV the day before Election Day last year they had maybe 10-20 people show up while we brought about 20-30.. it was looking iffy if they had enough money to pay the refs or not. I wouldn't be surprised if that was a reason why they raised the ticket prices down in Forsyth county. So the lower schools could make a little more.
Atkins brought about 20 people when we played them for Homecoming last year, North Forsyth brought a nice group. Walkertown's meh. Carver's awful for gate. I seen when Prep played East Wilkes they had maybe 10-15 people. You just can't depend on Forsyth schools for a healthy gate. On the bright side it boosts rivalries more but if the crowd doesn't show a school's screwed.
