So a previous career chapter results in my having a lingering interest in epidemiology ...
I spent a few hours this past Saturday checking up on one of my favorite niche subjects ,,,,, vaccine development issues for Ebola and the “universal flu” shot that’s coming soon too
Right now there are about TWELVE different types of Ebola vaccines being tested on the human in the Congo ....
Add to that additional efforts coming from China and Russia as well

Merck currently has the one that’s getting the most attention because of their impressive claim of how it created “total immunity” when thy tested it in Guinea
Edit: while this vaccine is getting the most attention right now because “it performed so well in the 2015 Guinea outbreak “....there’s a surprising lack of data and valid scientific criticism stating that the trial-vaccine was introduced at the end of the outbreak and wasn’t as effective as advertised...

Note that waivers are in place since these vaccines haven’t been fully vetted through clinical/human trials

There’s another version that’s genetically combined with a strain of rabies ....Ebola and Rabies — YES !!! Finally!!!

And more recently:

Post would be too long if I tried to remember all the factoids so here are some links for the curious
Only side effects I could find were body aches- and skin lesions...that could last one to two years
The largest ever outbreak of Ebola happend around 2014-2015
We’re currently experiencing the second largest outbreak ever
Not to be confused with Ebola-ramen from Japan [sick]
