Makes no sense. 10 wins last year to 5-7 this year doesn't warrant to be fired. AD must've had an axe to grind. Ruff was a great recruiter and the kids love him. Hope this doesn't set us back.
Incredibly dumb move on ECU's part. As an alumni - Ruffin made the pirates who they are in the past few years. The Carden/Hardy era was a perfect testimony of what Ruffin could produce. One down year is absolutely no reason to cut him. Lot of young talent that would get better - I bet it hurts them more than a new coach helps the team.
The AD had the nerve to say he wants a coach that values education, yet he announces that those young men are losing their second father a week before exams. He is actually the first father figure to some. Even on the field, ECU has been a team that no one wanted to play.
Values education is a term for we are borderline meeting NCAA mininum four requirements. He was a very good coach. ECU is a tough place to recruit level 1 kids. Same for Duke and UNC. His firing may set ECU back.
