Matt Jones also said he's pretty sure it's Eddie Gran (after saying he wasn't sure and he thought it was Mangino last night). Convinces me that he was corrected from last night by somebody who actually knows, so I think Eddie Gran will likely be the guy.

I hope Gran ends up being our guy. I think he brings the best chance of success in this league. He's proven, experienced and can hit the ground running. He isn't someone that will require years of OJT to get up to speed. He's the guy we should have hired in the first place.

Would be a great hire IMO. Great recruiter, has been in the SEC before and has been involved in many top offenses. If its not a home run hire it's pretty damn close.

What style of offense does he run? Looks a little more pass oriented than run.

Here's a link to the full game coverage of Cincy's win over Miami this season. It should provide a good look at the type of offense Gran runs. It is actually a pretty balanced attack, probably something on the order of 52% pass, 48% run. That should fit in well with what Stoops wants to do and as such can hopefully get everyone on the same page.

Actually, cue the news that he is going to remain at UC.

Not saying that this has or will happen, but I've seen these coaching searches play out this way far too often.
We'd have to offer him enough money that staying in cinch seems silly. Plus sell him on improving this O with barker and he could be a hot commodity for HC jobs in 2 or 3 years.

Too many reports coming out quickly that it's Eddie Gran. A lot of smoke, would be surprised if there's no fire there. What we do know is that Stoops already has his guy.

IMO, would be the best hire possible for Stoops right now. Are there better coordinators out there, probably. However, much like Dawson its all about the situation and right now Stoops needs someone with experience, proven resume, and IMO has a history working with because its obvious to me anyone who takes this job needs to understand Stoops personality and have a mutual respect going into this.

The offense has a lot of issues. I think this is the kind of guy who can come in and right away get the immaturity on the roster to respect him and want to play hard for him.

I really hope the Gran / Hinshaw combo happens. I wanted Gran last year. Runs the perfect offense for us- a good mix of pass & run. I love his 30 years coaching experience especially the 15 years in the SEC. Add in the fact he coached at FSU with Stoops its a no-brainer. Bring Hinshaw with him and he has shown he can develop QB. Both are very good recruiters especially in Florida.

Add in the fact that he currently makes $350k at UC- $200k less than Dawson made this season. Should be able to easily offer him around $600k to come here!

Last year Riley was the OC I hoped Stoops would get, but Gran was my #2 pick. Dawson was my out of deep right field, didn't even see him on the radar pick (aka no clue he would even be looked at for the position). Hopefully this year Stoops makes the correct hire and goes with Eddie Gran since Riley isn't an option now, but we will see.

Please God let us get him. He is the #1 canidate and can turn this O around faster than anyone. If we get him then we will be able to utilize all the talent we have instead of wasting it.

He is the best IMO. He is option #1 and there should be no option #2. Throw everything at him and get him here ASAP

He would be a homerun hire! I saw what he did with a freshman qb at Cincy. He would be awesome here!!

Why would he come now - when things seem decidedly unstable - when he wouldn't come a year ago, when everything seemed on an uptick?

I'm not sure he was given the chance to come here last year. He was supposedly a finalist, but from everything I can gather, Riley and Dawson were his top two choices. Gran was probably never officially offered the job. That said, I wish like hell he had been.

Word is
#UC OC Eddie Gran could be a candidate for OC job at #Kentucky. May be other suitors also, per sources.

(Gran, cont.) Sources also say Gran probably waits until after #UC bowl game to decide anything. Has had various offers past few years

1. Stoops is married to Air raid or bust...so I wouldn't be shocked if it is Gran.
2. Any scheme needs coached execution...and we need to see if Gran can get this unit to execute more consistent (Dawson sure as heck was a mess in execution phase).
3. Personally...I just don't see the Air raid stuff working at UK in SEC this time around. I hate never being under Center, this system under Gran doesn't run with the QB...
4. The difference of Gran is we'll go back to a ton of short passing game stuff. Alot of read option is to pass the ball to the open spot created by defender leaving a space.

So if is Gran...this will be Stoops last hire in his tenure if it falters...and I'd give opinion that it will fail and Stoops is gone in 2 more years. Fire away:uzi:

What problem do you have with Gran. Who would be your choice?

I think Gran would fill a couple holes. OC is most obvious but he could also help the special teams quite a bit. Wouldn't hurt my feelings if this is true.

In two decisions with OC spot open...he's picked an air raid guy. If he picks Gran as a 3rd time in a row...what else would you call that?
