IF the Kiffen/Strong/Schiano trio pass for whatever reasons, I think he would take the job. Kiffen might be looking for a bigger job and I'm not sure what Strong and Schiano are planning to do. You can do a lot worse than USF as your first HC gig, he has a background in FL and they will pay at least double his UK salary, But I doubt money would be the overriding factor in his decision; it will be about opportunity. All JMO.

Peace

Can you say, "We are desperate to prevent UK from stripping us of Bruce Judson, and anyone else they can manage?"

They are just trying to muddy the water.

Charlie Strong is the most natural fit for that job, great ties to the state in recruiting, and he would raise their defense up a notch or two, that is SF's weakness. Their Offense is very good, and I look for them to beat USC in the B'ham bowl.

I'd be shocked if he leaves.

If there were some problems and the ceiling was low here, maybe. but things here are on the rise, and that's when you are hot and everybody is interested.

If Gran is offered, how much,($), will it cost UK to retain him???
I do t think UK could match USF if they offered 2.5-3 million a year. However with some coaches it's not about money and they are just happy where they are. As fans we never really know what motivates a coach and what their goals are in coaching.

If I were Gran, and saw next year's schedule, and the returning talent, I might think my stock would rise significantly with another season, at Kentucky.

No one should be worrying about Gran.

USF is Charlie Strongs job to lose.

That is my thought but then again he is making almost 11 million not to coach the next two years. If he does take a job that 11 million gets reduced to half of what ever his next job pays him if I understand the deal correctly.

Aren't you a UL fan? I can understand why you want Gran gone after he made Todd Grantham look stupid.

There is not much talk or excitement about Eddie Gran taking the job down here. I doubt he will even get an interview. I am putting my money on Lincoln Riley if USF settles for an assistant and if it is former head coach, Charlie Strong. Gran is safe at Kentucky.

The only person reporting that Gran is a candidate is Bruce Feldman/Fox Sports. No one else is saying it, and I saw yesterday that the last time the USF job opened, Feldman was touting Gran for the job even then.

That's weird. Not sure I've seen a reporter constantly promote an under the radar coach like that.

Gran has the resume for the job. I have no inside scoop but think he will remain as head coach of CATS offense. Sure hope so, I'm all ready looking for his next match-up with 3rd & Grantham.

I agree with Strong being the perfect fit for that job. I think Gran will have better offers after next season, he would be wise to wait and see who comes calling next year.

If he signs another deal Texas doesn't half to pay him half of what the new deal offers.. So if he signs a deal for 3 mil.. Texas has to pay him 1.5 mil less.. They still have to pay him 9.5 mil

We need Gran here. With a Stoops taking over the defense and Gran in total control Of the offense we have a legitimate shot at being really good next year. With 19 of 22 starters returning and the red-shirts coming into the foe, 2017 could be a special year for this football program.

What Gran was able to accomplish with this offense this year after our starting QB was injured in 2nd quarter of 1st game was remarkable. He changed the offense to fit Johnson. This guy is really good. He knows how to manage a QB and put them into position to make plays. OC's like this are rare and he is one we need to keep at all cost. If it's required pay the man, but just don't let him walk now. We need to continuity of him and Stoops running the other side of the ball for an entire offseason, spring, and reg season.

The OP is linking a poorly sourced website that publishes a lot of dated and unsubstantiated rumors. I don't doubt that Eddie Gran would make a good head coach, or that he will be sought by other schools. The guy has a nice resume and a great football mind. But it will take more than a Sea of Blue rumor to cause concern here.

I am getting to the point where I will not follow links to that site. Seems hits are most important to them. Not much substance. ESPN does not even mention Gran as a candidate.

ESPN mentions Strong in talks with USF.
Chuck and USF really need each other. He just needs a good OC and he will get his career back on track. It won't surprise me if he ends up succeeding McElwain someday. I like Chuck. I wanted him as our head man after Coach Brooks, and was a little underwhelmed by the CIW scheme when announced, though I sold myself on it in time.

I can't see any reason to take Sea of Blue seriously. They have a small group of regular posters who bounce false news and out of date rumors back and forth to each other. None of it is well sourced, but they seem to enjoy living in their little bubble together. In this case, multiple media sources are reporting that USF is negotiating with Charlie Strong, but the boys over at Sea of Blue have convinced themselves that USF wants Eddie Gran. They are 1 of the last corners of our fan base still holding out for Stoops to fail here. LOL!
