In hindsight, how far along would we be if stoops had've hired grand when he first assembled his staff?

Considering the talent level when Stoops took over...probably about the same results. Perhaps we'd have gotten over the hump last season, but I think Neal Brown did the best with what he had.

That's the best called game I've seen in a LONG time from a UK offensive coordinator. He was on point with almost every play call.

After 40+ years of watching uk football, I completely agree with this.

Only minor complaint, I felt we got pretty conservative up 1 td and just getting that interception by McClain. In retrospect, gran was correct. I'll take any win over ul and stoops and gran just delivered a huge one.

IMO, and it's a good thing. We need coaches other programs will want. He will be a major OC somewhere sometime soon.
Don't look now, but we are a major college football program in a Power 5 conference! You don't get much better than the SEC! That's why he came to Kentucky, to get back to the SEC. Unless he goes to a higher profile SEC school, and I don't see that happening! I don't know why when we have a little bit of success that some of our fans think that someone is going to swoop down and gather our coaches or that our coaches would want to go anyplace else.

Why would he leave? UK will pay what it takes to keep him, so he's not going to leave unless it's for a HC job. Fans we are a major program.

First of all, you're wrong. Gran won't leave Stoops high and dry. Secondly, it's just too typical to make a post like this nearly as soon as a monumental win hits zeros on the scoreboard. Are you in the same Monday morning QB Club with Troll, Sean and tammefan?

If he gets offered the right HC job there is nothing Stoops or UK can do to keep him. Unless he is happy as a career assistant (Bud Foster is a good example) someone will come after him.

But I don't see that happening this year. So he'll be back. Next year? Maybe. But what is the right HC job? If TT gets the boot at UC next season, perhaps there. It's pretty apparent they are missing he & Hinshaw this year.

Tuberville is on the hot seat in Cincinnati, so it is possible Gran could go back to Cincy as the head man.

Actually, I think Gran will be here for at least another season or two. If Stoops has another season like this one (or better) next season, then I bet he'll be a candidate for a bigger job elsewhere and Gran would be the obvious choice to replace him with Hinshaw becoming OC.

I think the only places leaves for is Ohio State (because that's where he is from), but I don't see that happening Meyer will be there for a long time, Iowa (because that's where he played), or Florida State (he coached as OC and had terrific time there, but they have a successful Jimbo Fisher). Other than that, I think he stays put for a very long time! He has an opportunity to develop Kentucky into something special, and he has the full support of the administration who has stepped up to the plate for anything he has wanted!

This is the very reason I was against hiring a defensive HC at UK. Anytime we have a good season its for the most part going to be with offense.

And any time we have a good year, bigger programs are going to come calling....and then your only one bad hire away from being right back in the cellar.

Hopefully UK does EVERYTHING they can to keep Gran around for as long as possible.

Go big blue.

If Gran leaves for a Head Coaching job, I have to think Hinshaw goes with him as an O.C. If gran gets an offer it will be from a P5 school, too much of a resume for it not to be. Only way he leaves Is for a P5 job.
Gran and Hinshaw were with Tubberville at AU. They both had a good amount of success under him and they were never offered anything that was better than what they already had. Not saying they won't get some offers in the future but I do not think 7-5 is going to have AD's chasing their talents this year.

Where would he go? The last time this stuff was posted you guys said 2 years ago that Stoops wasn't going to be here long or Michigan was going after him, lol.

All we did was beat a overrated team ul and won some games in the weak SEC East.

True but that man is the main reason this team is where it's at in my opinion. Barker goes down and a unknown Juco steps in and the rest is history. SEC was weak the last 2 seasons but the offense struggled but not this year

This is so stupid. Did you even read the op? He said it's a positive that we have coaches that other programs want. He wasn't griping at all.
