a little awkward situation when Gran made the comment "Darrin likes to joke that we have 13 periods in practice and women only have 1". Seems to be just a little uncomfortable to pull that one out in a crowd full of women lol. Wonder what he was thinking.

Not sure what would compel a grown man to make that kind of joke in a speech to a group of women. Let's assume that speech making is not his thing and move on.

I'm not a PC person by any means but I can see clearly that joke was of poor taste. Still there's a big difference between a bad joke and being insensitive. It was what it was. It was a bad joke. There's no reason to make a deal about it unless he's doing this every other day. Let it die.

If you think that joke was "poor taste" then don't go into comedy clubs in Los Angeles. I have and if you think what Gran said was bad..... You have something special coming.

Same as him I am far from PC, but you have to be pretty insane to be an elderly man and crack a period joke to a group of females ranging from young 20's to 60's+. Don't know what his thought process was, but you have to question his judgement there lol. Not that I think it has anything to do with his football coaching abilities.

Thank God we didn't have the internet back even 30 years ago. Nobody can say anything anymore without it being picked up and analyzed.

Awkward moment. Nothing more. Breathe and move on. Lol

It shows a lack of awareness on Coach Grans part..

To the person talking about comedy clubs in LA.. This joke wasn't told at a comedy club in LA.

People are such p***sies now....

I kind of wish, there was a draft still so these people who on a daily basis rant about simple JOKES can go see the real world and shut the f**** up.

There's Kim Jong Un In North Korea who kills his own siblings/family and anyone who disagree's with him.

In America, we get butthurt over a simple period joke. (NO pun intended)

Who cares it's a freaking period joke. I thought it was funny. If you can't laugh at yourself then you are very very uptight.

If he turns this offense around and UK wins more games nobody will remember what he said. Not surprising that KSR were the ones who were the first to tweet it out to everyone.

Of course they were.

Matt Jones gets his hands on anything negative about the football program, he posts it and then goes back to brown nosing Calipari...

The people were women so you really nailed what they are a bunch of.

Well, Gran's a football coach, not a comedian. Hey, he's not elderly, BTW!

Matt didn't post it. It was one of his journalist on his staff that posted it. He doesn't review everything believe It or not.

Shows Gran has a sense of humor. I showed it to my wife and she thought it was funny.

He should have opened up with a show hands, "tell me you all have the dishes done!"

He's the publisher.......

He reviews everything.

Glad to see you believe yourself to be familiar with the inner workings of KSR. Unfortunately you are incorrect. I review none of the daily work on the site before its posted now and instead leave it up to Drew and Tyler who I trust as the Editors. In this case, I didnt see the tweet or post before it was posted but I totally support them acknowledging it. The comment drew boos and was by a coach at a Womens Clinic. It is worth noting.

You can't have it both ways....either its no big deal or "KSR always posts things that are negative." IT can't be both. If its no big deal, then its not negative. If it is negative, then you acknowledge its a deal.

My opinion (which is worth no more than anyone else's) is that Gran made a mistake with the joke, made even worse by the audience. Some in the audience didnt mind and some really didnt like it. Knowing that possibility, an event designed to grow football interest for women was probably a poor place to say it. It isn't however (in my view) a massive deal but rather a simple mistake

One last thing about people who get upset and say "lighten up" about jokes that offend others. If you truly take the position that nothing should offend, then I can respect that and in some ways I agree with you. People do get to offended easily in my view now so there is validity to that point. But often the same people who say "lighten up" get very offended when the butt of the joke is a group of viewpoint that they happen to be a part of. I often see the same people who say lighten up get REALLY mad at me for a comment I may make (like a joke at the expense of UK FB in the case of the commenter above). Either you think people shouldn't get offended or you don't...its kind of hypocritical to tell others not to get offended, when the jokes that hit close to home to you make you mad.

Hopefully we win 6 and make a bowl and no one even remembers this ever happened

That's my bad on the publishing. I always came to believe If your the owner, etc of the/a site, the writers/editors came to you first.

But, I still think this got blown WAY out of proportion. I guarantee you that half of those women in the room that didn't like what Coach Gran said have said something inconsiderate about the opposite sex too but men don't make a big deal out of it. They laugh it off, as they should and go along with their day.

If this is the real Matt Jones and judging by your previous "Postings" it is.

It's been blown out of proportion. I agree with a lot of what Matt says, but at the end of the day, whether you get offended and move on or dwell on it and whine is where the caveat lies.

Everyone gets offended. Some people just handle it more maturely than others. Like has been said, we go to a bowl this year and nobody will even care.
