Did we recruit anyone this year? What is the speed and quickness like for Nelson, Snodgrass, and Jamin? Do they have the speed to play OLB? Or will they need to bulk up for DE?

They are all LB..starting out at OLB if moved I think yhey would be moved to ILB. 3-4 also likes tall ILB too..im high on nelson. If moved to DE it would be a hair mary and they would prob be on their way out of the program. 6-3 frames dont hold the best weight. We have missed on speed guys for OLB...still have a shot at parker and asante for that role

We do have Jamin Graham and Mosai Newsom but do they have good edge rushing speed? Like he said, We still have a shot at Parker. It will probably be Kansas or Huskers (man id hope we’d get the nod over KU for an elite OLB but Miles is trying to sale something there). Astante is bit small for OLB isn’t he?? I’d guess he’d have a chance to be like a LaVonte David Type ILB. But I doubt he’s ever going to get to that level of talent.

Newsome is a DE, but I believe Nelson will start out at OLB.

Not sure why we didn't recruit Asante harder. Or maybe he just wasn't interested. But being the brother of a former star player and having a lot of major offers, I thought he would be our main target when we offered.

Jo Jo Domann most likely will stay at OLBer and can also be a edge rusher...

Interested seeing Breon Dixon do now with another year in strength and conditioning with Duval..

Same here, I was high on Dixon last season with that speed. Hopefully redshirting last season gave him time to beef up some and learn the plays. I believe this could be his year and if not, then it’s not looking so good.

I can’t remember, I am just guessing he redshirted.

I have a hard time seeing full-time 3-4 OLB for JoJo, he's too good at safety. But I could see him doing it situationally in certain packages because of his ability to cover if the personnel dictates it.

Agree, I think you will see Domann mostly in the 4-2-5 as the nickel linebacker and as a regular safety.

You don't have to have super speed to play OLB in a 3-4. See Tamba Hali and his 4.85 forty.

You have to know how to use your hands, leverage, and have good release moves.

Jamin Graham (best pronounced “jammin” just because that sounds sweet) is a wild card and maybe a tweener between OLB and DE.

Nelson seems like he could be good off the edge.

I heard Snodgrass is starting at ILB but may move to OLB, a fluid situation- and really same could be said for several roster guys moving between ILB and OLB.

Dixon is also short like Asante. I think staff put focus on Parker/Jordan/Fonua, but maybe a late push will happen for Asante.

Tannor needs to explode this year. I also think Domann may be that hybrid safety/OLB guy, but won’t be shocked if they keep him at OLB.

Ferguson could have a breakout year at OLB and really fill a big whole.

David Alston is another unknown, and his development could really help us.

Alex Davis still on roster should be “improved”.

Most seem to think Quashon Alexander and Pernell Jefferson could be off the map, but who really knows?

Jordan Paup, Simon Otte, and maybe Chris Cassidy (might be ILB) are a few walkons to watch.

Pretty much with that group they need 4+ to step up and really get after it heading into next year.
