I thought it was good that they didn't fall after losing...I guess I can never win oh well
Well, they did preform better than a couple of the other 0-1 teams still ahead of them...
Many here will tell you that historically you need to have some pretty spectacular things toi happen to lose any game and move up in any of my polls....
Either CG is better than folks thought or PR isn't as good as folks thought. If we start seeing some consistent blowouts by both teams, then we'll have our answer. Too early to say.
Cary staying the same and not dropping or rising after losing the the #1 team is exactly where they should be. If you lose, you should never increase your ranking. This was a rival game where both team knew each other really well and the games are close year after year. It doesn't say anything to me other than a classic rival game. Onto week 2!
I get it but one point still shouldn't separate the #2 and #25 team IMHO.

CG is right where they should be Edgy. I'll take it. The game could've been easily 21-7. However, I was impressed by the very young D's on both teams they are playing fast and hungry. I was also Impressed with Groves he appears to have conditioned himself well this past year. The CG O will produce lots of points guaranteed. I think after this week we will know a lot more about the FVC. If PR dismantles Huntley and we take out McHenry then I hope to see CG to jump above Hunley in your top 30.
When we get to the end of the year, will this game have an asterisk? Should they have gotten an "almost" win in a world of 10th place ribbons?
Rankings always have and always will be to some degree subjective.

Well PRokie... I am, like everybody else, providing my opinion about where some teams should be situated in the rankings. A loss is a loss, but when two teams are that close (on the field) they shouldn't be miles apart in the rankings IMHO (24 spots separated by one point). By your reasoning... a one point loss/win is no more/less impressive than a 50 point blowout. We have a small body of work right now to evaluate so the score results should factor in.
No question MS can be beat... anyone can be beat.
(With the exception of Phillips of course)
As much as I'd love our boys to go 14-0, I'd feel more comfortable at 12-2. I believe our losses last year worked to our advantage in the end.

Not talking about year end...everything sorts itself out then. No need for ribbons or participation bs here.
why it matters? The same reason why they are put together, to make conversation. The opinion coming in was Cary was #25, PR was the best team in the state, they played them at home and lost by 1. Just not sure why they would still be considered only #25 after that game. They played a tougher opponent and had a better showing than any other 0-1 team, hence questioning why they stayed, and some of the 0-1's only fell slightly.
how? what's the point of the weekly poll if it doesn't matter? Why are you wasting your time posting here if it doesn't matter?
Year end, none of this matters since the champions will be crowned no matter where they were in the polls...But for now, they must matter or why does Edgy make them weekly?
It all matters. Thats why I got PR 1 and CG 1a in my first DSR
It's a poll Edgy puts out. I respect his opinion as he is closer to all of this in the big scheme of things than any of us.
How does MC rank #11 when they beat a team ranked 265 in Illinois. So what if they didn't have Alek Thomas. Most CCL freshman teams could have beat this Taft team.
And when they beat the another soft team in Lane Tech, who lost to Leo, you'll probably move them up. SMH!

Rankings during the regular seeding are nice for discussion, but in CG's case the real ranking of concern will be the post-season Class 6A seeding and whether or not that gives them another shot at PR, this time at home.
Dude, you need to give it a rest. It was one game. CG hanging with PR in week 1 means nothing. If you don't believe me, talk to DeKalb. Let's play a few more games before we get all excited.
