Somebody can look it up on X, I'm sure....

Cal was winning 20-13 and Va. Tech mounted a good comeback and went ahead 27-20. Cal was driving at about the Va. Tech 15 yrd line or so......Cal Qb dropped back and LITERALLY STILL HAD THE BALL IN HIS HAND, not even in a throwing motion..... and 2 Va. Tech defenders tackled him pretty good but the Zebras called "Roughing the Passer." Cal scored on the next play.

I haven't seen a more horrible, horrible call all season. What are the defenders supposed to do??? Run up to the QB and tap him on the shoulder and say "Hey, you better throw it??????' - Now the game is in OT and Cal just scored a TD to take the lead. This is unacceptable officiating.

The Va. Tech defenders DID NOT throw him to the ground, etc......they tackled him. IE: Sack in 999 games out of a 1000. Just awful.

Game over in double OT. Va. Tech wins but the refs did everything they possibly could to give it to Cal. They should be fired before they leave the field.

College officiating has to be addressed very soon. University presidents have got to come together & do something. It gets worse & worse & clearly costs teams games & chances at championships (2024 Cocks). Conference officiating needs to end. Needs to be professional referees that only ref. The white hat also needs to be held accountable & face the media after every game. Increase their training & increase their pay, then hold them more accountable. And then we come to college basketball & the Pat Adams of the world........

Saw that myself. There was nothing rough about that play. As you stated, the QB was within an eyelash of being sacked with a clean tackle but managed to ''get the pass off''. It's no longer real football but moved to ''protection football''. When in doubt, throw the flag and we will muddle it over endlessly on video while the TV audience takes a nap

Was watching too. Stupid. There were also 2 targeting penalties over turned, and rightly so as they should have never been called. Games are being stopped too frequently and many times too long to review targeting (and plenty of other crud).

But in regards to the roughing the passer, that one is getting out of control too. You almost can’t touch a qb in way. That is what the problem was last year vs LSU. That penalty called on Kennard was because he hit the QB. The QB who had become a defender and began to move towards the ball carrier. Any other player he hits and the TD stands.

Victim status has moved/made its way into college football.
Everyone on the field is a football player regardless of the position they play would be a novel return to the original game.

It wasn’t intentional but live speed it almost look like the defender picked him up and body slammed him. The QB went in the air on his on through and the tackle just resulted in a body slam. I do not think it was a personal foul, but I knew they would flag it.

This is why I say if you’re going to have replay and need to apply to every play, especially personal foul penalties. If, as the proponents of instant replay say, the goal is to get it right, then that should apply to every single play of the game, including penalties.

They will take three minutes to review a play to determine if it is second two or second and three. But an enormously impactful personal foul penalty doesn’t get a second glance.

I'm sick of the pu$$!f!cation of the game in the name of "safety". Judgment calls only work when the people making them possess judgment.
