For those of you living in Eastern KY, what counties/areas are best to go and see elk? I've seen plenty out in the western U.S. but I'd like to check them out here in KY. Thanks.

The guy that used to run Pine Mtn Settlement School said the elk would disappear for months and then a herd would just pop up.

If this was 20 years ago I could put you on them most likely. However, the areas I use to frequent no longer have any/many and I don't go looking for them anymore. The Jenny Wiley elk viewing may be the best opportunity. The Big Sandy airport area near the Floyd/Martin Co. line should still have some around to see.

Go up to the federal prison on the Martin/Floyd border when the sun starts going down. Drive out to the little airport. You will see them in multiple places and may even be able to park within 10 feet of them.

Haven't been to LBL in a while. I didn't know they put elk down there. Just haven't paid attention to it.
