Smc team has been in how many state title games this decade? That's present not past.
Anyone who watched TJ play last year at Robbinsville knew it wouldn't be a blowout.
If they had the hogs up front, TJ would be a yearly contender. Their line is ok, but really just an average 1a line.
Thankfully they haven't recruited that part of the team....yet.
Their o-line was pretty good in pass protection. Their interior d-line wasnt much but their d-ends were fast and their linebackers were really good.
I wonder of they're pulling any kids from the Gaffney area. I'm sure several come from Shelby and Forest City and probably Rutherfordton but outside of that the school is in a pretty isolated area I believe.
Their QB is from Polk County and that big WR maybe from Polk originally too, I know there's been multiple Twitty's that have played at Polk in the past.

I know some do. Another advantage of charter schools. Surry can't run a yellow bus out of the county but Bridges Charter sure can run a bus into Surry from Wilkes and Millennium from Surry into Stokes.

Just a matter of time. Advantages are built in for certain programs, and the powers to be know full well how to use them.
Anyone that thinks charters are getting these kids threw a random lottery ONLY are very gullible or ingenious one.
I wonder how many of these charter schools have travel coaches coaching and those same kids manage to play on the travel team as well as the school team.
Let's also note that businesses that help build charters are guaranteed a certain percentage of enrollment for the children of employees.
I am not sure how much I would take the Andrew’s game into account for Elkin, they missed the final week of the regular season, and this was a rematch from a year prior. I would say Elkin was a little rusty and over looked them somewhat. With that being said the Elks will have to play a whole lot better this week to give Murphy a game.
Elkin played the same level of game as they did the last time they played Andrews. I was there !! I’ve also watched all the game film on Elkin from this year and nothing was different. Elkin ran the same plays but Andrews was prepared. Actually if it was not for the 4 turnovers in the 1st half it could have been a different outcome. It’s hard to accept that little Andrews gave you a scare and having said that Murphy will beat Elkin by at least 3 Td’s on the road
If they are not streaming I heard today that 3WC radio is broadcasting the game Friday night. You can listen on their website at 12403wc.com
I would assume since it's at Elkin that it will be on NFHS like their other games including Andrews last week.

Who are we trying to fool here ? Murphy will win big . Murphy 48 Elkin 13. Murphy is a hard team to gauge when it comes to emotions and “ getting up for a game “! Most teams like Robbinsville and Swain you can tell if they are ready to play or not by watching warmups . I got to say I like that about Murphy, being able to control their emotions till kickoff. I’ve watched them play several games other than my Knights and I see no difference if they’re playing a team 10-0 or 0-10. I personally like them with their minds on the task at hand and saving the energy. Just my thoughts . Back to topic, Murphy will produce about 300 yds rushing and the QB will go 9 of 11 for 130 yds and 2 TDS. Just a typical day at the office for the Dogs. Murphy 48 Elkin 13. Easy Fella, If Elkin was who you thought they were, maybe you all should have WON the football game, them being no different and all. Shouldn't have presented any problems, now its just Shoulda, coulda, woulda.
Murphy had a very key player get injured in the 4th Q of the Thomas Jefferson game. He isn't going to be 100% so that could be a factor.
Murphy wins this wk but gets beat by the winner of Mitchell/Robbinsville.

Even though I have never met them, I found out today that the RBs for Elkin are my cousins. Their grandfather is originally from Murphy.
Facts being Facts, barely escaped or blowout doesn't mean anything in the playoffs, its win or go home time. Whether Elkin has a chance this week is irrelevant. Have to actually still be in to have a chance. Hope Andrews has enjoyed baseball practice this week.

Anywhere near 100%. All talk of blowouts should be put to bed. Not that I thought that anyway, Elkin has a good o-line and some good skill people. No they arent Thomas Jefferson good but that doesnt mean they arent a solid football team.

When was the last time Elkin made it past the 2nd round ? I went back every year to 2010 and they either didn't make the playoffs or lost in the 1st or 2nd round. All 2nd round losses were to a SMC team.
Lost to TJ in 2019 playoffs at home. It was the 3rd round, but their 2nd playoff game due to a 1st round bye.
It wasn't showing the bye but I went back and looked and it was missing an 11/15/19 game. So they did get to the 3rd round but lost the 2nd game. So making it to the 3rd round with a bye counts as going to a 3rd round. I missed that. My bad.

I stopped at 2010 but they did go 3 rounds without a bye in 2009 losing to a SMC team in the 3rd round. (Robbinsville) I knew in the early 2000s they won 3 or 4 1A State Championships. My point was the SMC had stopped them for 10 years by their 2nd game. SMC seems to be a roadblock for Elkin and can the breakthrough it this time ? Because of the short 7 game season this year they did not play Mount Airy or North Surry and I don't know how good they are but they will be tested Friday night. They will be in the same conference with Mount Airy for the next 4 years starting this fall.
