All I know is the big three in the SMC have been relevant and at the top of the food chain for at least the last four decades. And that isn't some fly by night thing regardless of what you want to believe. The facts don't care about your feelings. And this year that third place team just come a minute or so and an early miscue or two from knocking off a conference champion and "supposed overall #1 seed", of which that third place SMC team showed they were just as good as. And most years, for the last decade in small 1a ball the SMC third place team was stronger than the majority of other conferences 1's and 2's, especially on the east side. Another fact whether you like it or not. SMC has been, and will continue to be the perennial 1a conference for traditional schools, at least until the charters finally take over. SMC pound for pound best conference in the state 30+ years and going.
