Good luck. We’re going to see her in Charleston this weekend (would have done BJC but cutting it too close with school). Think we paid a bit more, maybe double. I’m happily not going though - just my wife and daughter.
Did you end up going? We drove to Charleston WV on Saturday morning and spent the night. My wife and daughter went and I have never been to Charleston before; reminded me a lot of where I grew up in Beaver County (just a bit bigger). Lots of working class folks and mom & pop shops on main street. We went to what must have been the busiest restaurant in town before the show (it was FULL of folks going to the concert, or I assume they were since it was a lot of kids/families dressed in cowboy gear and Ella Langley merchandise). But otherwise, the city was pretty dead. I was able to drive to the venue and drop my wife/daughter off at the front door. Parking for the show was $5 everywhere (including in the on-site convention center garage). Wife said no concessions, including beer, were over $6.00. Daughter loved the show and was beaming; wife said she was better than she thought she would be and played about 90 minutes straight without a break or outfit change. Overall, great experience - not a lot of diversity there, but people are nice and the area is really beautiful. The drive was rough (5 1/2 hours each way) but scenic (we drove through a bunch of small towns on the way back - Thomas, WV was really interesting as it's essentially a town on the river built around antique stores). I will say whoever the genius city government employee was who decided to close down several exits from on the main highway/bridge from South Charleston to North Charleston during and immediately after the concert should be kicked in the nuts. Especially on a Saturday night and for a show that is likely the signature event for the city for the year.

I read your write up too quickly and thought that you were comparing Charleston SC to Beaver County........which drew me in as that surprised me.....when i re-read the comment, and saw that you were referring to Charleston WV.....it made sense. Ella Langley seems talented. I have met her lead songwriter, Joybeth Taylor a few times she is super talented and so unasuming. I have a friend who knows Joybeth well and Joybeth was belittled by a Nashville Record Label for wearing ripped jeans and a flannel shirt when pitching some songs to artists........ she now is the most wanted writer in Nashville due to the success that Ella is having. Ella picked Joybeth due mostly to the songs, but she also liked that a young writer from Alabama was so talented and she also liked her relaxed style.........

I also saw on Choosing Texas specifically, Miranda Lambert is a co-writer. I haven't been to Nashville but my friends and I are throwing it around as a guy's trip destination sometime this fall. All big live music fans (though not necessarily country music). Assume there are all kinds there?
Yeah, both kinds , country and western .
You'll find plenty of non country music in the honky tonks ... don't snooze on the Nash food scene
when booking your airline tickets, you learn early not to make that mistake. When the tickets are too cheap, you've booked Charleston SC or if there are too many options. I was the airport rebooking one time, and had way too many options, to which I said, I am goin going Charleston, WV, you know Charlie West not Charleston SC , oh sorry I'll change it to CRW.
Lots of music going on......with the number of recording studios and available session players lots of albums are getting cut in Nashville. My son heard about Kings of Leon playing 90 minute set at Basement East last week and he and two friends saw the show for $20 cover.
One night you need to go to Broadway just to see the big bars.......and bands lots of talent, on the stage and walking through the crowd : )
Food scene has greatly improved in the last 10 years...... easy walking city and if not walking there are Waymo's everywhere you can order like a LYFT.
Nashville is great. My wife and I go once or twice a year. The bars are pricey, but there is a lot to do and we have always had a great time.
I asked that not long ago found these on YouTube. She is the new hot country singer
I have reached the point in my life where musical acts coming to the BJC fall into two categories:
- People that I have never heard of
- People that I have heard of but are over the second hill and charging entirely too much for tickets

Been to Nashville, went to the Grand Ole Oprea, it was fantastic. Would go back.
