MY POINT is...one of the last games, the announcers mentioned that Rutgers has led CFB in blocked kicks over the past THREE years. Yes, I also understand that Schiano's ST's started this practice, led the league for a long number of years but Flood's ST's are no different the Schiano's. I am NOT knocking Schiano to bolster Flood but those like yourself like to make stuff up.
Schiano may have had the best kicker(Ito) and punter(Radigan) but he also had no F-ing punter one year and gave us Te.
We are still blocking kicks and while I loved McCourty as a returner- Grant is much better. Flood has not given us a Radigan or Ito but I am trying to figure out how he is worse or better then Schiano with the ST's.
Baloney. How many chip shots did we miss with Schiano as HC? We led long, long before that dating back to when Schiano was here in ST scoring. At least back to 09. Speaking of Devin McCourty, remember when we took two star players and made them NFL first rounders? Those were the days.
Te was not great, but he was better than Federico. Again- this goes back to the problem with your side. Federico is worse. Just like Schiano was blown out by a few teams, but not everyone with a pulse. Schiano missed a few NJ recruits, not the entire top 10. Schiano hired some bad assistants, but not almost all of them were bad. Schiano had a bad defense one year (when EL was paralyzed), not 3 straight years. Schiano should have changed QBs more often, but it was not that he flat out refused to change them ever.
Do you see the difference?
Name one thing about Schiano. Anything. In all aspects, any of us will be able to show you how Flood was worse than Schiano.
You want to go down with the ship, I'm not going to stop you. But I'm also not going to sit here and let the man who is the only reason we were blown out by tOSU and not by Houston- again- be bashed on this board by people who support the man who is destroying the entire foundation he built.
skoolie- those Schiano teams will always be first and foremost in my heart. I believe most of the players on those team were much better then everyone thought and they busted their asses every single day. I can come up with a ton of great things about Schiano and have even said that he should in some way memorialized for what he did here. I always thought that the teams from 05-08/09 played with a chip on their shoulder and a certain swagger. One of the things I loved about his defenses were not the schemes but how the defense just swarmed to the play. You never saw a one on one tackle, we always had what seemed our entire defense in on it.
It almost seemed though, that at some point when we started bring in some higher ranked players who watched those teams when they were in HS, some of the chip and heart went out of the team and it sometimes became me first rather then team first.
What happens though is that quite a few posters like to rewrite history and do exactly what you are saying "pro" flood guys do and there is no discussion. I wish Greg Schiano all the best luck in the future and where ever he lands, I will still follow him. I just don't think he is what we need here right now.

Not going for it on 4th down was not as bad as the play that was called on 3rd down in my opinion... run the ball, hope to pick up a first, any sort of positive ydg and its an easy decision to go for it on 4th.
I questioned why it is stated that ST's have fallen backwards under Flood. They are pretty much consistent with what Schiano had. I give Greg ITO and Radigan as well above average but everything else is about the same as it has been.
You are so delusional when discussing each HC there is zero point in responding to you.
@yesrutgers01 I really don't get your hate for Schiano to be honest. You take every opportunity you can to discredit him and downplay what he did on these boards. It is puzzling because you trusted him with developing Kevin Haslam into an NFL level OL talent. I just don't get your beef with him.

Look guys, you know I think Schiano was a better coach, but he also had the year where Ito punted and a couple of years where we had no one who could consistently catch a punt. We did seem to block more punts (and have less of our kicks blocked) so I'll give him that but even there when you have Grant I can see the risk/reward of blocking vs returning being a bit different.
At the end of the day though, the ST play does seem to be a bit frayed around the edges right now.

Blitz/skoolie- this is hate and blasting Schiano??? You guys get something in your head and ignore everything else.
Personally, I feel we can do better then Schiano and he is not what we need right now. He was exactly what we needed in 2001.
In this thread, someone stated that ST's have fallen under Flood and I pointed out that they did not.

A www- I will make your tiny mind happy. Yes, we are having troubles with FGs this year and last year was one of our best. Is that all you want?
What is mind blowing is that you need to find something, anything, and grab it and not let go.
Any given year a certain unit could be worse then it has been before or it could be better.
So, on a whole, we have continued to block kicks...a little less this year but it is still a strength. We are very good at returns with Grant. KF is very similar to Te but not nearly as good as Ito. And we haven't had a game changing punter since Radigan. Overall, ST's have been almost the exact same under Flood as they were with Schiano post 2007.
They have not had this drastic drop off. But hell, I'll give you that KF is not doing well this year at all.
And somehow in your tiny head you will feel I am knocking Schiano and saying Flood is the savior. But if you sleep better, go with that story...

Well, we could have gotten to the half a lot more respectable...... Hit the first field goal, and make that first down inside the 40...... A chance we could go into the half down 14-6...... Assuming we get a field goal on that blown series, and we possibly use enough time to stop a third td. By OSU

That's really everything you need to know in a nutshell. Flood is one of the lowest paid coaches in the country and there is no pressure at all to raise his salary to keep him. That tells you all you need to know about the perception regarding his coaching skills.
