I don't know, but she and Deal need to get a lot of minutes for this team to reach its potential.
I was a Deal "fan", will be interesting to see what she does at Wisky. Hope she does not come back to "haunt" us.
May as well start a thread on where those two will play next year. Pretty good odds it won't be Wisconsin and Syracuse.
I'm sure she'll improve to an extent, but Iowa has much better players today.
My comment was tongue in cheek based upon all of the promotion of those 2 by members of this forum and the level of angst created when they weren't on the floor. They simply weren't good enough.

I was too but honestly she just wasn't that good. I'm sure she'll improve but she'll never be great imo

I was a Deal fan also, never really was in on Rodriquez. I think it was best for all parties that they have moved on. I am cautiously optimistic about our additions but certainly withholding judgement until I see how the team connects and the pieces fit.

maybe replacements don’t work out either, my point is it doesn’t matter what posters say, myself included, hell there are MANY posters here who had given up on the backup post after her freshman season. JFC, starting this crap when a new team is coming.
Team chemistry is yet to be seen, but as individuals they were already proven to be better last year. Carnegie was first team All SEC last year. She was light years better than Deal. Rodriguez was a me first head case who was never going to play for Iowa again. Whiting was a 3 year starter at BYU and then Oklahoma St. The rest of the players that left were role players that were unlikely to see meaningful minutes.
Faison might actually end up being a better player than anyone that left.
What hasn't been proven? What's "it"? Did Erod or Deal come close to playing at a first team All SEC level?
Jonesy, totally agree with your thoughts.
This years team can be very good if Jan can meld them together.
* Heiden - All BIG first team - looks bigger and stronger
* Wright - All BIG third team - great at the point
* Carnegie - All SEC first team (we didn't have a go to player like her)
* Woliczko vs Deal - big + (Mckenna is a long and skilled inside/outside player, tenacious rebounder)
* Houston should have been on the BIG freshmen list ahead of Deal and Barrett has been quoted saying Journey is one of the hardest workers
* Stremlow - the glue player who never quits
* Hays - looked quicker and stronger in practice
* Whiting - three year starter who is a solid defender and three point shooter
* Faison - probably the best athlete who will get better with time
That seems like a team with significantly more talent and depth. Stromdahl will develop over time and Media looks like a gamer, big jump up for her.
Yeah. Losing Hannah hurts, but McKenna and Journey are a much better front court fit with Ava who should have much more room to operate as the only post out there.
The top 5 backcourt of junior CCW, Carnegie, junior Strem, Whiting, and Faison looks much, much stronger than last years 5 of sophomore CCW, McCabe, Kylie, sophomore Strem, and Deal.
We'll have to see how Jan orchestrates things, but I really like how this roster's put together.
Agree. Journey turned out to be the star of that freshman class. She was statistically superior in pretty much every way and yet Deal got picked for the All Freshman team instead. The only aspect of Deal that was superior to Journey last year was her recruiting ranking.
Deal is talented. She had some really good games as a first year player. She also had some difficult moments. She may have lost some explosion from prior injury. She looked like she was accustomed to blowing right by people and it just wasn’t there like it may have been previously. It will be interesting to see if Wisconsin can set her up to utilize her strengths and if she can grow in skills and agility.
I dunno, but I think that whoever guards her will have a little bit of extra motivation to make sure she's not a factor in the game.
JFC, think Deal might be thinking the same thing? Are you gonna boo her when she takes the floor because she didn’t meet YOUR expectations? Man, this is sad, temporary infatuation with this years gladiators, sounds like LSU to me!
Settle down there little fella. She's no longer on the team so I couldn't care less about Deal, certainly not enough to boo her. Her ex teammates might feel different. You sound a little bit unhinged to be honest.
