War Machine makes sense, but we don’t really know if his contract extends far enough either. Hawkeye still has contract remaining though, right?

Hulk with one arm is still > than every hero currently standing other than Strange, Marvel and Scarlet Witch (assuming Thor stays off planet). Also... I kind of doubt he stays injured. He’s Hulk. They don’t have to use him anymore though. He could just retire.

Hawkeye is going to be in a TV show on Disney +, so that may fulfill his contract obligations. I also expect him to be in the Black Widow movie (prequel to the first Avengers movie).

In the Avengers comics, the makeup of the team was constantly shifting. Every few months, they would seem to add a member or 2 and lose others.

Mantis, Wolverine, The Thing, Storm, and Cyclops were all members at different times when I was collecting Avengers comics as a kid (along with all the different ones that have shown up in the movies, and many others).

By the way thanks Redson I knew in that final battle that Cap was gonna bail them out with the hammer. I was fine with the time travel stuff and actually liked the idea better then just everything went back to the way it was before the snap.

So yeah, I'm a Johnny come lately. Finally saw it and amazingly avoided almost all spoilers.

I'm fine with the time travel. They were a bit condescending about explaining away the challenges of their time travel 'realities' but otherwise I had no issues with it.

The main issue I had was 'basket case Thor.' I also was not cool with the brainiac hulk. The hulk story certainly made more sense with the character but it made the character far less interesting. The wussified basket case Thor was just friggin nonsense. To me, Thor was a distraction most of the movie. The only remotely redeeming thing about it is the possibility of Thor playing off Quill in GotG3. But Thor becoming part of a band of idiot thieves roaming the Galaxy is just a lot to accept. And both of those character arcs are pretty unsatisfying after Ragnarok (and IW).

I was indifferent to Captain Marvel after seeing her movie but I have to say this movie did her character no favors. The inconsistency of her powers in the final battle had me baffled.

The ending for Cap was perfect IMHO, but admittedly Agent Carter is my kryptonite so if I was Cap I would have done precisely the same thing.

Could be wrong... But I thought I saw a thermos in the background when Rocket and Thor split up from the stone column in Asgard. I'll have to watch again.

It will be interesting to see how they explain it. The only thing that makes sense would be that all of his close friends turned to ash also, and are now finishing HS with kids that were 5 years younger than them.

I’d still watch Ant Man, Black Panther, GOTG, etc....but they are not a part of a larger whole at this point, no big needle to move along.

I really like ant man and spider man. Rudd is just a lot of fun in that role.

Black panther gives them all sorts of opportunities for nifty special effects I suppose, but I don't really get fired up about Wakanda.

Also pumped for GOTG with Thor. I loved fat Thor and think he will be back to form by the next GOTG but still have the funny bone.

I actually do like Dr Strange, but he really needs a character like Tony Stark to antagonize him. There really isn't anyone left that's both intelligent and snarky enough all in one to serve as the foil to Strange.

I like the idea of a movie about the "new" Avengers. Rebuilding/reorganizing the team after the loss of a bunch of key members. In the comics, every super team goes through significant cast changes fairly regularly as it allows the writers to bring in new storylines, new team dynamics, etc. As I see it, here are the options they have, although they can definitely add other characters.

War Machine- I like Don Cheadle a lot, and think the character has a good combination of leadership and dry sense of humor. He will clearly be involved.

Captain (Falcon) America- They clearly set him up to be part of the new franchise. I think the character is kind of boring, but the combination of wings and shield will be pretty cool.

Dr. Strange- Maybe the most interesting remaining character (both in personality and powers). Seems like a no-brainer. Hopefully that is the case.

Scarlet Witch- I think I like her, but they have really been inconsistent with how powerful she is and what she can/can't do. She's attractive, so that is a plus. They also haven't given her a lot of screen time, so I'm not sure she has the acting chops to be more than a background personality.

Ant Man- Great character with cool powers. Clearly needs to be involved

Wasp- I hope she is part of the team, primarily because AM and the Wasp were both members of the original Avengers. Plus, Evangeline Lily is hot.

Spider Man- Seems likely that he will be involved. Fan favorite. Cool to watch in action.

Black Panther- Seems likely to be involved, if only to keep the black fan locked in to the franchise.

Captain Marvel- They have set her up to be a key member, but maybe it won't happen. I think Brie Larson is boring, and they clearly have issues with CM being too powerful and making every crisis too easy to fix.

Hulk- Still a possibility. Maybe too injured to fight effectively and takes over as the home base scientist role on the team.

Winter Soldier- He's kind of meh, IMO. But, what else is he going to do with himself.

There are other, secondary, characters that could be included, but I have already listed too many, so I doubt any of these play a significant role (Shuri, Pepper Potts, Valkyrie, Hawkeye, Wong).

It will take some work to come up with a good mix of powers and personality to form the team they want. It will also take some work to come up with explanations as to why the characters they cull are not involved. For example, maybe Scarlet Witch is traveling through time to be reunited with The Vision, so she is not available. IMO, it doesn't work to say, "Wanda decided she just doesn't want to do this anymore, so she is getting her degree at Villanova".

That’s what they have said I think. His group of friends all turned to ash, so they didn’t age. To them it was only a second.

Went to see End Game for a second time last night. I have to say, I enjoyed it much more on the second watch.

The first time through, I was analyzing a lot of the plot, trying to figure out what was going to happen next, and thinking about what had just happened, which made it challenging to focus on what was currently happening. The second time, I could just focus on what was happening in each scene.

The first time through, I was trying to grasp all of the time travel nuances, and understand how it all tied together. Obviously, that was not an issue on second watch.

The first time through, I missed a few small things, that I picked up on with the second watch.

The first time through, during the time travel scenes, I wasn't totally sure what footage was taken from prior movies and what footage they filmed specifically for this movie. This time around, it was easier to tell, and I was really impressed with the job that they did (making the actors look like they did in the first film).

This time around, I picked up on a lot of foreshadowing that was set up for Cap's decision to remain in the past with Peggy Carter.

The first time around, I really needed to urinate about halfway through, but just held it. It was distracting. This time around, I took a bathroom break, and didn't have to suffer.

On second watch, the lack of Captain Marvel, for most of the movie was much more apparent. It seems really weird that they didn't call her back to earth to participate in the "time heist". I don't see any way that she is part of a future Avengers team. She is simply too powerful, and will make the other members of the team superfluous. I'm sure she will have a second movie, but suspect that she will slowly be faded out of the main MCU storyline.

Also, End Game was extremely Hawkeye-centric, and I really didn't pick up on it the first time around. He has an extreme amount of screen time in the movie, which I think is pretty cool since he was not in Infinity War.

Last point. How did none of them die (or even get injured) when Thanos turned Avengers HQ into the World Trade Center on 9/11?

Another thing that has bothered me is really thinking about what happens when after five years of adjusting to life after the snap, suddenly everything that disappeared 5 years prior reappears. I think it would be chaos - many people would have changed their lives. Many people would have died. Many, sadly, would have either taken their lives or been killed in the aftermath.

Now all the missing reappear after the five year nightmare and have to figure out what's going on and how to deal with it? What a mess.

And then there's all the animals reappearing as implied by Scott Lang's scene right before Thanos blasts HQ to bits. With reduced animal populations, all sorts of things would have changed in five years. Some would thrive, some suffer. Now the populations suddenly increase by a huge margin.

'Undoing' what Thanos did after that much time isn't really undoing it IMO.

In the end, I thought it was entertaining and it was satisfying to see some story arcs end well and Thanos to get eliminated. But there's more truth to Thanos' line about them not being able to deal with their failure than I would have originally thought.

Holy crap. I never thought about this. How did I not think of this?? Yeah, what a mindfvck to think about. That would cause an ecological and sociological disaster honestly. All the cleanup they would have to do (the shot of NYC was mostly overgrown w plants and such) would be a nightmare. Haha that’s crazy.

I posed this same scenario to my wife and she just said I think about that type of crap too much and it doesn't cross anyone else's mind.

Hahaha I mean, guys, this is really throwing me through I huge loop. Think of all the people who just reappeared. According to Spider-Man it was only a second basically. So these people blackout for a second and wake up to what? Many homes are probably destroyed or being lived in by other people. Their jobs are long gone. If they have kids that survived, they are suddenly 5 years older. I could go on and on, it would literally be a natural disaster probably worse than the original snap hahaha this is wild!

Thought it was good. Very difficult to end something like that (see GoT). What I can’t get over is how easy it was to kill Thanos at the start of the movie and how difficult it was at the end.

At the beginning, he said that he used the stones to destroy the stones and it nearly killed him. He was in an extremely weakened state.
