Would we rather have Eno Benjamin or Alaric Williams? I know Eno is ranked higher... Can we take both if they wanted to come here?

A lie is a lie, all the kid had to do is man up and be honest when the coaches put him to the test. He is a great talent but running backs are a dime a dozen.

SW, you are cool here, and you seen to be a voice of reason on the hawkeye board.

I do read it, do not post.

Think it was a knee jerk reaction by the Iowa coaching staff, that they may regret. Seems the standards thay have set do not play well in current recruiting.

Not at all sure regretting not having Eno but the policy is spelled out to them before they commit big difference happened before will happen again. Do you think Iowa is the only one with this policy?

Here's an idea....how about Iowa tell the kids when they commit that if they want to take other visits to let the staff know about it, so they can discuss it. Instead of threatening them with pulling their offer if they visit another school, they can have a more open policy that allows the kids to visit elsewhere without almost being forced to sneak around.

Does the coaching staff think that a 17 year old kid is never going to have 2nd thoughts, or is never going to want to take a trip for the fun of it? Their policy is like the possessive boyfriend that won't let his girlfriend out of his sight, because he is afraid she will stray. And what usually happens with that approach? Yup, going their separate ways. Iowa is setting themselves up for these decommits. Fine with me.

I don't have an issue with it if they tell the kids up front don't commit unless you are done with visits and have made your choice. Otherwise, we will continue to pursue other prospects. Why should Ferentz allow a kid to commit who apparently just wants to save his place on the team in case he doesn't find something better and then continues looking around? Different approaches for different coaches, but if the communication is clear up front, then the kid can make his decision. If he wants to take other visits (for fun or otherwise), don't commit. You may or may not have a place left when you get around to deciding, but that's your choice to make.

That approach seems to have worked out well for you with this kid.

Is he really what we are looking for? I'm not so sure.

If Iowa's approach is truly what is described in this thread, then they are shooting themselves in the foot.

Could it be there is some other reason? His film is okay, but I think there are better guys we are in on.

Is that based off the Nate Clouse interview on USC or do you have some more info? Honestly I don't get why we haven't offered, we don't really have many good options right now. Sounds like Williams is solid to Auburn, Hill is solid to MSU, Carr is solid to USC. Greg Johnson is being recruited as a DB. Who else are we in on? Peacock?

No on Clouse, yes on more. I'm convinced we have offered EB and we're sincere with Johnson about giving him an opportunity at running back.

If this is the case, why haven't we been mentioned by him when talks about schools he's considering?

The dude has been pretty secretive about a lot of stuff he has been doing concerning recruiting. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he has an NU offer and hasn't announced it.
