All.... With the new change in the waiver policy and only 15 schools multiplied the potential for some postseason qualifiers playing in a different class than they are usually assigned in is likely.

One example is St. Rita. With a very competitive regular season schedule I believe they have enough coming in to make the playoffs this year. Throw in the possibility of one or two rematches and that is high school football paradise for fans. The Mustangs could be a force in 5A. We will see. Ratsy

And if East St Louis goes 5A it could get real interesting.

5A Preseason rankings:
1. ESL
2. Montini (tie)
2. St Rita (tie)
.
.
.
7. JCA

All.... At 1262.00 I think the Flyers preseason classification will be 6A. That being said with ESL a bubble team close to class 5A and 6A everyone knows when the 256 qualifiers are announced depending upon if that eight part class puzzle moves up or down they could drop into 5A. Ratsy

correct....north quad would be loaded if 5A is what some are saying (JCA-SR-Montini, etc) or do you roll the dice in 6A with Phillips/Cary/Prairie Ridge?

This past year in 5a, JCA was in the south, while Bronco was in the north. Chicago Hyde Park--fairly close to Rita--was in the north along with Evergreen Park. If the Mustangs make the playoffs, it could be a Bronco-SR rematch game in these stupid, full of puke geographic 1 - 16 formats.

ESL might end up in 6a, but we shall see.

ESTL/Rita shoot even JCA in 5A is sad...petition up people. 5A isn't 1-32 yet, ugh!

All.... ESL can't petition back into 7A because the conference now doesn't allow any of their schools (in all sports) to play up. JCA is one of only 15 schools being multiplied. At there multiplied two year cycle enrollment 1062.60 (644) they are already being taxed up one class. Why play two classes higher than ones real enrollment? Ratsy

You are correct. Why haven't ESTL said anything publically about this, are they ok just getting at trophy regardless of class? Where is an official SWC statement? Does the SWC really think they winning titles in multiple classes in various sports? Seems like a way for the SWC to force ESTL out of the conference. Dumb rule

All.... What are they supposed to do? The conference leadership has spoken and ruled. As for ESL leaving who going to want to take this athletically gifted school. And the Flyers finding a new conference that is a good fit isn't all that easy. At this point in time though it's a moot point. District play in a couple of years takes care of it. Ratsy

As much as they travel add them to the LWE/HF conference for football only or play independent . Only an enrollment rise will get them in a higher class with or without districts. No but the SWC should be ashamed for drafting such a rule for the only team that petitions up

All.... The football only idea would require approval from the conference. Would they sanction it? No one really knows if the SWC want the Flyers out. As for ESL and their enrollment. As they say it is what it is. A "novel"/s idea would be to apply the other IHSA's tax aimed at Catholic schools the success formula for ALL schools. Consideration of that is highly unlikely. Ratsy

Actually it was said last year. Yes it is a dumb rule, But we have to live by it. Rules are rules not to be broken. If they have a change of heart trust the Flyers will play up. But don't see that happening.

Will Rice be 7A or because of success factor be at 8A again this year
They made 8A with a small freshman class last year, with a bigger class this year I can't see why they wouldn't be 8A again.
