I have to admit , I was one of the people that wanted him gone after last season , but man he has made me eat crow after the start of this season , the team he has put together this year is very fun to watch and maybe JUST maybe might have us dancing in March . Have we finally found a nice guy coach that is actually putting together a product that Tulsa can be proud of ? It’s early , but so far , he has shut me up for sure . Here is to continued success for TU men’s basketball , I will be in Frisco Saturday cheering them on

I will admit I was very much for firing konkol and he has really proven me wrong also and I have hope for ncaa aspirations this year.

We are the jaded skeptic society of basketball now. Thanks for 23 years of malaise and disappointments.
I’m looking forward to going to Frisco and watching us pop New Mexico State getting revenge for football ( that was a disappointing trip home )

I'm over that in football, and on to newer and brighter futures. I just want to let the football team take care of them in the next go round, cuz I think it might be more of a challenge to beat Western Kentucky than it will be to beat NMS. So that game gets a bigger circle on my calendar than NMS.

I agree
If K had the resources Haggerty would be a senior
But he has flamed out at K State
I’m impressed at the team K has assembled without power 5 $$
Also the improvement from Behrend and Smikle is all about coaching

Our team is amazing and enjoyable

I’m leaving time in March

Where is our AAC tournament?

This is a great shooting team. Best Tulsa team in years should be in the mix to win the American Conference.

My only concern is rebounding can we rebound against good AAC team's other good teams????

GO TU!!!!

I guess I didn't realize we were moving again. Originally sounded like Dickies Arena was becoming a sort of permanent host site when they moved it there but I guess without SMU there's not really a home team and I can't imagine UNT caring much about basketball and traveling 20 minutes down the road to pack the place out. I can see UAB getting a pretty decent crowd for their tourney games but I also can't see anyone other than Memphis really traveling to Birmingham.

Tampa will be a disaster for ticket sales and attendance...except they might do better on the women's side

yes it’s at UAB but only the top 10 of 14
Teams make it
Better one and two seeds advance to the semis auto and the champ only has to win 2 games
If TU is 1 or 2 we would play on the third day Friday of the tournament
It’s the classic 10 team format
I am optimistic and put this in my calendar tonight along with the first weekend of the ncaa tournament
I have a lot of travel and did this not to jinx but to keep my calendar open
I have family in the Huntsville tech neighborhoods
I’ve never been to Alabama and would enjoy visiting the civil rights monuments sites in Birmingham
The arena looks nice
As it gets closer hopefully TU will offer travel package flights and bus
I could see us drawing 500 fans if we make the finals

We only have 13 teams playing basketball. Leaving out the bottom 3 was news to me. I just looked at the bracket and they are following the same format that the WCC conference follows. If you are a 7,8,9 or 10 seed you have to win 5 games. If you are the 1 or 2 seed you have to win 2 games to win the tournament. To be honest I dont like the format at all. I didnt like with when I saw the WCC do the same format. We get the 1 or 2 seed, we play on Saturday and Sunday only. I might drive to Birmingham if that happens.

That is about 10 days after I get back from Vegas and my wife is off that weekend. So, If @nevadanatural goes to Birmingham, I probably will as well.

Birmingham is a tremendous city. Not easy flights to get there, but a terrific destination.
I know people who fly to Atlanta and just make the drive over the Birmingham. They have said it actually saves time and some money considering the direct flight the Hartsfield vs multiple connections and layovers.

When we were coming back from FAU, our flight got cancelled and had to drive all the way back from Florida , went through Birmingham on the way back , not the worst drive ever if you have a few people with you to take turns driving if you don’t want to mess with flying. Just to Birmingham though , not Boca Raton , that drive was hell!

We flew to Miami once and then had to drive across the southern part of Florida over to Naples. It's not a terrible drive in the day time but we had to make it at midnight after a long day of flying. The signs about watching out for alligators in the road was a little disconcerting. And it's pitch black because you are essentially driving through the everglades. I just find driving in Florida disconcerting in general. You either run up on blue hairs that should really be taking Ubers or a senior lift service or you come across transplanted New Yorkers who treat every other car on the road like it's a cab.

What a stupid place to hold tournaments. Must be to cut travel for the east coast teams while screwing everyone else.

It's decently close to EC, Tulane, Memphis, USF, Charlotte, and of course UAB. Nothing is close to Temple. It's far for FAU, Tulsa, UTSA, N Texas, Rice, & Wichita. It services half our league. It roves for now. Or we could hold it in Memphis every year, and be the closest to everybody. I personally don't like that idea.

We tried Memphis. We always lost.
