Benet returns a strong core from a 7A semi appearance. Glaring omission from your list IMO.
Naz will run the table in the ESCC in 2018.

Run the table ? I want to see how the QB play will be first. Could be some growing pains.

Well they were. From what I understand a lot of them were good 8th graders, naperville patriots, naperville chargers and such. Now how their development has gone SINCE then, I don't know. Kids get into high school and lose motivation, hang with the wrong crowd (does benet have a 'wrong' crowd?)... QB that finished the season was a soph Gillespie i think?

Dons will be returning quite a bit--including ESCC POY Ty Gavin. Current soph class finished 9-0 (as did the frosh team). Decent amount of talent returning on defense. I think a 7-2/8-1 season is likely.

Rest of the conference: Benet and Naz will be legit state contenders. Marist always tough (how much are they returning?). Carmel is rebuilding but has a really talented soph class.

Any thoughts on Viator, MCC, JCA, etc??

I know numbers are low at MCC, and that is very scary. There's a couple juniors that MCC has coming back that have some talent, such as Radcliffe, Kramer, and Paglialong. From the ESCC website it looks like Kramer is the only All-Conference returner, but I know Radcliffe was the leading receiver, and I liked some of the things Paglialong did on both sides of the line. And I forgot to mention that they have Riccardi coming back as a junior next year, he has played receiver, but I would assume he would transition back to QB now that there is a vacancy. They are definitely going to need to have some guys step up big time. I hate to see the low numbers, but at the same time, the last time MCC was in the semis, there were only 22 players on the varsity roster, but that 07 team had a TON of talent.

St. Pats is going to be competitive. They had a real solid sophomore class especially a stud D-Line man. Benet is going to be really good too. They have that young QB who I am surprised didn't get as much reps last year.
ND with Ty Gavin is gonna be tough especially if the freshmen soon-to-be sophomore qb plays as he should. He should help lessen the burden on Gavin. I saw this kid play Basketball at the DePaul Thanksgiving tourney and he is a stud. Dunked easily 4 times contested. Word on the street is that he loves football so he should stick with it.

Marist and Naz are still at the the top tho.

I hope you are correct. Just always nervous about the QB position when neither option has played a varsity contest .

I saw that frosh QB play a couple times and he certainly looks the part. Great mobility and a nice arm. I expect him to be the starter and give opposing defenses lots of headaches over the next 3 years.

Marist should be solid but they will probably take a small step back with all the talent they lose. They return the QB, 2 very good WRs and a couple lineman on O. Return some DBs and LBs that got a lot of playing time but the DLine will probably struggle. Hard to replace two D1 lineman at the HS level. Frosh and sophs were both undefeated in conference play so some talent coming up.

foosball1 where you at with the Carmel Catholic assessment?

I'm not a coach, just a casual fan so I have little to offer. We need the expert to chime in.

really? I watched them against Naz and thought line was big but was underwhelmed by the rest. I think the final was 21-14

Benet's soph QB did not play with sophs last year, he was the 2nd Q on Varsity and ended up starting 8 games between regular and playoffs due to injury to the SR Q. In short their Q started almost a full regular season. they had 3 other of their better sophs also on Varsity, the DE started the last 7 games of the season. The other 2 had significant time on field for Varsity. Benet loses a total of 4 starters on D and 4 on O. the majority of those positions are filled with solid sophs. Benet will be at the same level as this year of slightly better next year.

Going by Soph team record is not the best indicator.

ESCC is going to be very competitive across the top 5-6 spots next year. ND will be huge with Gavin. Naz, Benet, ND, Marist will be very good. MCC and Viator will be solid and Pats.

So you’re saying prior to the SR getting hurt the Soph QB played zero Soph level football? That’s just not correct.

Should have been clearer, you missed the point entirely. Meaning after starting 8 games at the V level he essentially now has a full years regular season equivalent experience. From the first game he played in to the last (4 of which being playoff games), there was a very good progression and is not a rookie Jr. as they start next year. Obviously over the last 4 regular season games he did not play with the sophs. at all.

You name three for Marist, where do you want me to start with Naz?

Marist won't stop the Naz offense in 2018.

I'm a Mt. Carmel alum and fan so I don't know who else Marist has back. As a fan and follower of high school football and knowing Markett and Skalinsky from watch them play since 5th grade, I know if they have those two plus Thompson, they are going to score a lot. I'm sure Naz is loaded and will do great, but you can't say they'll run the table when Marist has that talent returning

I can say whatever I please. It's my opinion. I'm an ESCC guy, have been for a long time. Naz is going to be lights-out next season.

Except your post doesn't make sense since he's a CoM poster

Well from the post thread - it sure looked like he dared to question the declaration of Naz’s easy run the table in the ESCC next year via proposing the possibility that Marist might put up at least token resistance and feathers got ruffled shortly thereafter!

If I made an opinion on WV it doesn't make me a WV guy.

Not saying he is. And agree that would not make anyone a “insert School here” guy if you or I or anyone did comment on “insert School name here” School.

Only saying he and I and all others should have read the sign that should be posted at the front of the board before we entered or commented On anything Naz related. Case in point on these granular detail questions and replies :p

Gettin fun now! I am just surprised @diezel66 hasn't commented about my worry of lack of numbers for next year's MCC team, usually he is on here as soon as I post something about the Canes :p

Writing you're a Mt. Carmel alum makes you look like a tool. Isn't it 'Mount Carmel'?

Foosball1 - need that jersey number Pal.

I'm a CCHS guy. Been here on this board and in the stands for a long time. You're a fake fan with demand requests to make your son feel better after a tough football season!

Grow a few before you proceed calling more coaches out at Carmel.

Better go get your son a popsicle!

Will Joliet Catholic make the playoffs next year? I can't imagine that program missing the playoffs for three straight seasons.
