Funny. see you in the playoffs
Lighten up, I'm sure you're well aware of what people say about Benet folk.
People say alot about Fenwick IWBCH
I don't know what IWBCH means but people absolutely bad mouth Fenwick. Lots of parent alums are insufferable. I was just an uneducated public school kid so I don't fit in with that crowd. Like Benet, Fenwick has a lot of elitists, I am well aware. I don't take what people say seriously nor do I take this board too seriously. I mean who does?! My Benet comment was very much tongue in cheek but let's be honest, it is rooted in truth.

It may be an oversight on your part but there are going to be several parent organizations, associated with both public and private high schools, that are going to be upset that the high schools their children attend were left off your list of schools with elite parents.

ND won the conference two years ago. They have made the playoffs for the past 8 years I think. The problem is that they play in 8a because they get the multiplier and then multiplied by two. So they end up playing teams that have 80 kids on their team.

I think heading into the future...Marist and ND and Naz are the future of the conference. The blue collar kids they get are all "allowed" to play football. Unfortunately my shamrocks are going to have trouble getting kids in the building because the neighborhood around Austin and Belmont.
I think you are a little out of line by saying that St Pat's will have trouble getting kids in the door. Just like a previous poster stated if the school is committed to the students and sports good things will happen at any school. St Pat's is staring fresh with a new coach so I would give him time to run his program and see what he can do. ESCC is unpredictable it seems as of recent years so what one might predict Naz to win conference and bam turns out Benet has a great year. So I'll give the Rocks some time to build their program with a new guy.

Im just an upset alum. I don't understand why Gloriosso went with this outside hire. They were some great inside candidates including the OC. And one of the greatest players to ever play at Belmont and Austin before a career at ND and the NFL went for it and he didn't get the job. I think it would of really rejuvenated the school and program.

It also doesn't help that they haven't beat the Dons since 2012.

Sure it also doesn't help that after Pat's dominating the Dons on the hardwood for a long stretch (mid to late 2000s), the Dons basketball program has kind of taken over the rivalry. Although it will be interesting to see how ND does without Coach Les--he truly turned that program into a consistent top 20 program in state. How much longer doe Coach Bailey stick around before he hangs it up? (this thread has been everywhere else--why not ESCC hoops?)

I hear the kids at Pat's really like the new coach. He is young and relates to the boys. You need to give him 3 to 4 years to recruit his players. He is playing with Galante recruited kids. I think next year they will be a team to reckon with. They have many junior starters this year and their sophomore team is very talented.

I don't want to hijack this thread but can any of you ESCC guys tell me why ND is not better in football? You would think they could grab a few kids from LA and MS.
I live really close to ND and will catch an occasional baseball game but never football. So i do cheer for them.

I don't think a kid or parent for that matter will choose ND football over Loyola. North shore kids want to go to Loyola. ND battles Pats more than anything else. Academically Loyola is far superior which is why the north shore parents want their son going to an academic school. No offense to ND. Loyola is one of the top schools in the state.

Solid week for the ESCC. Quality non-conference wins for St. Viator, Marist and JCA. Do not know a ton about MCC's and ND's out-of-state opponents but good to see both of them notch wins as well. Marian looked competitive which is the first time they have done so against a non-CPS opponent in some time. CoM will have some growing pains with a freshman QB, but I imagine they will start clicking soon enough. Some good match-ups this week:

Viator-28 Lake Forest-21

Marist-35 Mishawaka-17

Pats-34 GBS-14

Marian-33 Yorkville-21

Wheaton North-38 JCA-20

Naz-45 DLS-14

Benet-28 ND-17

DeKalb-27 CoM-14

MCC-28 Columbus, WI-17

Viator sneaks past Lake Forest
Marist comfortably wins
GBS edges Pats
Marian overYorkville
JCA squeaks by Wheaton N
DLS upsets Naz
ND over Benet
Carmel over DeKalb
MCC wins over WI team

To be fair, ND isn't really trying to recruit or compete against Loyola for those north shore kids. ND is competing against Loyola and Pats for the NW side Catholic school kids and, to a lesser extent, against schools like Maine South, Niles West, and top CPS schools (Northside, Lane, etc.)

But I agree that it is strange that ND has emerged as dominant basketball program and a legitimate contender over last few years but can't seem to break through for football.

I will say Nazareth's offense better be prepared to be hit, and the offensive line must win the night against a tough and fast DLS team. Receivers must first catch the ball, then make the play. The Runners always struggle with yips in early season targets. They have weapons galore though, Love and DB are so electric.

Bonds could change the game even against a smaller (but IMO potentially elite) Naz secondary. They will be challenged, I hope they can contain his freakish athleticism. The Nazareth front seven is solid, excited to see them in action.

Glorioso's days are numbered anyways but he doesn't have the final say in the hiring process. The alum you refer to wasn't leaving his 6 figure job at the University of ND and family to take the job (sorry to burst your bubble) and the OC was passed up for a reason and he's not calling plays this year
