Time to dive into conference play. And there are some matchups this week that, although early in the season, could go a long way in determining the final standings.

Marist-28 Viator-14...I think Marist actually has a decent shot at the conference title this year. Viator will be hard pressed to make the playoffs if they lose this game.

MCC-42 MC-7...Seems like the Spartans have been in 'rebuilding mode' forever now. When will decent football return to Chicago Heights?

JCA-41 CoM-20...Hilltoppers continue to roll. I don't think anyone comes close to them until their week 7 showdown with Naz.

ND-20 Benet-14...Both team have looked good in the first 2 weeks. This one is a toss-up in my eyes.

Naz-35 Pats-21...It pains me to admit that the Shamrocks have looked like a real football team so far this year. They have some real talent. However, Naz is no Taft or GBS. Roadrunners roll.

JC QB most likely out this week, and possibly next week. The back up looked good last week, but anytime you lose a 3 year starting qb, there will be some effect. That being said, I think JC is too strong up front and has some really good running backs JC 35-10

Also like Marist and Naz by a lot.
MCC over MC 28-7
Benet over ND 21-10

You are correct. But if I recall, Morrison was injured and Earl started a few games during his Soph year.

Good to have you back ESCC fan. I think we may see a number of upsets in conference play this year.

Marist over Viator....interesting matchup here. Marist "held" MC to 21 in the opener. If they can play good defense in conference, they very well may win it. I suspect they will have their usual strong offense, after a bit of a down year last year. They have a number of weapons back. Viator had a tough 1-point loss in week 1 against Rolling Meadows. It may prove to be a huge loss for their playoff hopes. If this game was in Arlington Heights, I'd give them more of a chance. Marist looks to have too much for the Lions.

MCC over Marian of the Heights....Woodstock to Chicago Heights on a Friday night? Yikes. The Spartans got rolled by Oswego East last week. Looks like another long year in the Heights.

JCA over CoM....JC's defensive front 7 is formidable this year. The FB dive play (CoM's bread and butter) would seem to be a tough go, even with Rondell Jamison. The Corsairs have only put up 14 points in 2 games. As USD points out, they get JC's backup QB, who looked good against WN in leading them to 3 of their 5 TD's. It's a rivalry game. But, it's in Joliet and CoM has struggled there. Looks like a tough one for the Corsairs.

ND over Benet.....Game of the week. Benet has been very impressive, and they are at home. The Benet QB is athletic, and I'm hearing this is one of their better defenses, since their 2012 semifinalist team. Could their success in the lower levels the last number of years translate to success at the varsity level? I like ND's QB. He's a true dual threat QB. The Dons handled Evanston much easier than many suspected. I expect this one to be close....and ND's more potent offense to be the difference.

Naz over Pat's.....could this be Naz' first test? Pat's has been impressive offensively. I'm guessing the Roadrunners will be jacked.....playing their first Friday night game in LaGrange Park. Too much speed at the skills for Pat's to handle.

Naz hosted Boylan in first round under the temps at home. It was a pretty cool experience and seemed to excite the alumni and parents that I know. Naz is very excited about the new permanent lights but not sure this game will draw the same appeal as that one did.

For the record this will be "first Friday night game in LaGrange Park", The Boylan game was on a Saturday.

Marist will win and will do just fine this season.
MCC Big BIG BIG
JCA EVEN BIGGER
ND wins I think and will present Benet with some issues. I watched the entire Benet/O'Fallon and ND/Evanston game and my gut tells me ND's got a possibility to win this game, and if so, really challenge in the ESCC this year. This spring I really thought the guys saying how good ND could be might have had a screw loose, but after watching them play they've got some tools that could play out very well for them.
Naz wins but I don't think this game will be as easy as some of the posters do. This St Pats team could test the Roadrunners and spoil their first game on a Friday night if things don't start out fast for the home team.
