Let conference play begin!

JCA-35 Viator-10....Hilltoppers get back on track with a relatively easy win. Still will be an uphill climb to the playoffs--may come down to the week 9 match-up which, thankfully for the Hilltoppers, is at home.

Benet-38 Pats-7...First real test for the Shamrocks. Benet's defense is just too good.

CoM-28 Marian-7...no comment

Naz-20 MCC-7...Weird things can happen up in Woodstock...if there is rain, watch out for this one. Naz's defense proves to be too much and is the difference-maker.

Notre Dame-27 Marist-21...Definitely the GOTW in conference. I think the Dons win the war in the trenches and a late Gavin TD seals the deal. Very excited to be in the stands for this one.

Week 3 Standings (with conference play starting this week, this will be the cutoff for entry to win the *TO BE NAMED LATER* ESCC Memorial Trophy:

1. stonedlizard (Week 2: 8-2, Overall 16-3 (89%))
2. DCH88 (Week 2:8-2, Overall: 17-3 (85%))
3. Voodoo Tatum (Week 2: 8-2, Overall: 8-2 (80%))
3. pjjp (Week 2: 10-0(!), Overall: 16-4 (80%))
3. Digital Cy (Week 2: 9-1, Overall: 16-4 (80%))
4. lkhammer57 (Week 2: 8-2, Overall: 15-5 (75%))
5. NWSideIrish (Week 2: 7-3, Overall: 7-3 (70%))
5. Cross Bones (Week 2: 7-3, Overall: 7-3 (70%))
7. PowerI66 (Week 2: 9-1, Overall: 13-7 (65%))
8. ESCC Fan (Week 2: 7-3, Overall: 12-8 (60%))
8. Southland Fan 2016 (Week 2: 8-2, Overall 12-8 (60%))

Hopefully it doesn't rain on the Posse's parade this year. I did send a few irrigation pros on to the Woodstock admins, but not sure if they went and got quotes.

I’m going with.

JCA - their week 1 win is not looking as impressive and they ran into a chainsaw in week2 but it’s still early and I want to support and keep the posse energized!

Benet

CoM

Naz - the only time I will dive a little deeper before picking Naz is when they play NND and Marist. I still can’t get the 42-0 loss out of my head from last year - but I am hearing from the guys in the know that Marist doesn’t have as many horses on both lines this year (and man was their DLine good last year!).

Marist - I think the hot money is going to be on NND but I’m going with the proven commodity until someone in the ESCC beats the defending conference champs this year.

JC over StV: Even the almighty JC has to follow the rebuilding rules, but they get back on track with a win over a sputtering Lions squad

Benet over Pats: Shamrocks are respectable, but Benet is miles ahead.

Carmel over Marian: Woof...only picking Carmel simply due to roster depth

Naz over MCC: By alot...unless the grass turns to mud

ND over Marist: 3 weeks ago, I pick Marist. Today, I pick the Dons as they seem to be built a tad better in the trenches than Marist this season. Great match-up!

JCA over Viator.....Jchill will be saddling up and leading the posse on the long trek up to Arlington Heights. Will the Hilltopper team from Week 1 follow? This is a must win for both teams.

Benet over Pat's....Benet has ND and Naz the next two weeks. They have to avoid the temptation of looking ahead. Their defense is too good to stumble against Pat's. Trap game?

CoM over Marian of the Heights....talk about long treks? How about Chicago Heights to Mundelein for a conference game on a Friday night? Only in the ESCC....

Naz over MCC....there was a time when the book club formerly known as the Insane Naz Posse would be fired up about the location of this game. But, those days are past. In fact, it's rumored that Jwar is being flown in for a poetry reading after the game. The event is said to be smoking jacket optional. The game? Even if it's played underwater, Naz has too much talent.

ND over Marist....I thought I was going out on a bit of a limb with this pick, but it appears quite popular with the ESCC prognosticators. I like ND's lines and the two-headed monster of Gavin/Sayles. Could be high scoring. Markette, Thompson and Skalitzky are tough. Just think ND will make more plays to win it.

Benet- top tier team playing bottom tier shows the shamrocks they have a lot of work to do.

Jca- is st. Rita that bad or is IC that good. Not sure what to make of the Hilltoppers yet.

Naz- close one up in Woodstock but talent wins

ND- the last time Marist played ND it was a heartbreaking playoff lose for the dons. This Nd team is one of the fastest teams I’ve seen.

Upset special
MC- They have been so young the past couple of years and I’ve heard they actually kept their good freshmen in the building. Carmel is in shambles. 4 personal fouls week 1 is a bad reflection of the staff. MC gets a conference win week 1.

No line--those are just my guesses. We don't do the spread stuff here in the ESCC.

Keeping it simple this week

JCA
Benet
Carmel
Naz- unless Harding field becomes the swamp
Marist over ND- ND sounds legit but I feel like I have heard this tune before in Niles. Very talented team but struggles against proven programs. I am going with Marist until ND proves it to me that they can hang

Pretty dominating wind for the Hilltoppers tonight. Looked solid. Another injury to I think it was a running back. Looked really nasty hope he is ok.
