Only one "toss-up" game this week. Do not expect any other close games.

Marist-42 Viator-7...Big win for the RedHawks on the road last week. A bit of a break this week as Viator has really struggled this year.

Naz-49 Pats-7...Naz's defense continues to shut teams down. With Marian Catholic, Viator and Carmel still on the schedule, Pats has a chance at 5-4. Smart scheduling by young Coach Guerra.

MCC-35 Marian-7...The Hurricanes win the battle of the Marians.

JCA-45 CoM-7...Years ago, this was the marquee game of the season. This will get JCA to 3 wins. Only other 'lock' win is Marian Catholic--can the Hilltoppers get to 5-4?

*GOTW* Benet-24 ND-21...These two teams have played some gems in recent years. This one should be no exception. I think the Redwings get a late FG to win at home setting up a Naz-Benet showdown in week 5.

JCA over CoM: And a 4th lopsided affair this week.

ND over Benet: This should be a good game. One I may even attend. ND should be able to control the clock and make it a short game 17-14 type of score

In my opinion, I don’t think the Nd vs Benet will be that close. I think Gavin runs wild in this one. ND by at least 10. All other games are gimmies pretty much. First game benet been challenged this season.

Voodoo in first place? We can't allow an ESCC interloper to win the overall season series. :cool:

Marist over Viator....was impressed with the Marist defense and line play against ND last week.

Naz over Pat's...I'm not convinced Naz is even going to be challenged in conference. Marist? Maybe. Finally caught some highlights of the soph QB. Really impressive. If he stays in-state and does not bolt for IMG etc., he has a chance to be one of the best QB's IL has produced in a number of years.

MCC over Marian of the Heights....how about that trip from Woodstock to Chicago Heights on a Friday? Mike Maloney and crew might want to leave on Thursday.

JCA over CoM....It's Carmelite Renewed Rivalry Weekend in Joliet this weekend. First, the Corsairs make the long trek to the Big House in Will County after a 2-year hiatus. Then, the MC freshmen renew the rivalry on Saturday morning with the young Hilltoppers. Since the JC frosh QB is out, DeanofSelection has installed the young Caravanians as 10-point favorites. No word yet whether or not DustyofSelection (the true prognosticator in the Selection family) will weigh in on the game.

ND over Benet....definitely the GOTW. ND had their chances against Marist last week in a hard fought loss. As others have mentioned, this is Benet's first big test. I like ND's speed in this matchup. Benet's defense has been outstanding. Should be a good one.

Reaons I’m picking ND over Benet:
1. ND coming off a highly competitive game and Benet not so much. Sometimes it’s a shock to the system to amp up your game and ND is already there after playing Marist and it might take Benet a quarter to ramp back up to playoff caliber level of play.
2. ND has beaten Benet several times in years past and plenty of close games as well.

Total toss up though. Should be a good one.

I don't believe winning percentage is the best ranking method unless my winning percentage is the winning percentage.

Anyway, my take...

Marist - won't be close
Naz - won't be close
MCC - won't be close
JCA - won't be close
Benet - I am Fredo

Week 4- the JCA posse rides up to memorial stadium in a lack luster event against Carmel catholic. It is what it is but for JCA, this week will be a tune up just like last week. Usually, schools schedule the first two weeks against lesser opponents to fine tune their team for the season. JCA came out swinging. Last week they worked on the so needed passing game. 125 yards thru the air and one td. Less penalties, turnovers and a different attitude strolled into Arlington Heights last week. Looking for the same nasty attitude, better tackling and just clean up the little things this week. A must win for sure. Need to come out swinging tomorrow and take it game by game and stay healthy. A must win for the Hilltoppers. The posse rides off in the sunset on this one. JCA 48 Carmel 14.

No. I have a good relationship with an AD in the conference and and asked the same question not too long ago (among many others involving realignments). They told me that St. Pat's is not of "CCL pedigree" and Pat's is a well respected ESCC member as they have been in the conference for about 50 years now

Another boring week except Benet vs ND

ND over Benet- I said last week that I am not ready to pick the Dons until they prove they can compete against top talent, and while they didn't win I was impressed with the fight they put up. ND by 7

All of the games are 30+ point blowouts with the exception of Benet Vs. ND.

The last 2 years this game has been decided on a FG with time expiring with each team winning one, interesting enough it was the visiting team that won both times.

This game will be close, but, different than the last couple of years. Benet's D Line is very very good this year, if they clog up the T box area, does Gavin get big yardage? On the O line, probably for the first time in several years Benet has a larger line and slightly more athletic line than ND. Both those areas ND had slight advantage last couple of years. The game will look different than the last couple of years, still close but a different look.

it will probably come down to a FG again, and am taking Benet.

What does the DVC guy win if he ends up at the top of the leader board at the end of the season? Do I get a weeks worth of non con matchups (team of my choice for WV of course.) for the 2019 season? ;):p

Will anyone challenge Naz? At this point, I don’t even see Marist giving them much of a challenge.

I don't see Marist beating Nazareth this year. Looks like Naz goes undefeated in the ESCC and maybe all year including the playoffs.

Voodoo Tatum is on a tear with his picks and he will be tough to top in the coming weeks. Does the clown cup come with any goodies?

I am looking forward to that game. Selfishly it could bring a big shift in the ESCC weekly game picking. I think Naz is the favorite - but that BR/Marist game is now looking a lot different!! So, I’m still not sure what to think.

I’m definitely Picking Naz next week when they make a visit to Benedictine Statium. I’m still whaffling on the Marist/Naz game (think that one will be a game time pick decision!)
