Last week: 3-2
Overall: 8-2

ND-31 Viator-28...Backs against the wall for the Lions. They will come out firing. ND is coming off a really tough defeat and may be in for a bit of a let down. A late Simon FG wins it for the Dons.

Marist-41 Benet-28...Marist's offense really impressed me last week in Niles. Their defense needs a bit of work but they can put points up in a hurry. Benet had a huge comeback W against Pats but still faces a tough road to the playoffs especially if they lose this one.

CoM-27 Pats-22...This one is a bit of a toss-up to me. Both teams really need this W to bolster their postseason hopes. I think the Corsairs build off last week's win.

Naz-63 Marian-0...Roadrunners will be angry. Spartans are facing them at the wrong time (well, there is probably never a good time for Marian Catholic to face Naz...)

JCA-42 MCC-20 (GOTW)...Hurricanes out to prove last week wasn't some home-field fluke that resulted from miserable conditions. However, I keep looking at ther two uninspiring performances to open the season vs CLS and McHenry and I just can't think of a way they can bear the mighty Hilltoppers in Joliet. Longggg commute on a Friday night!

ND-38 Viator-21....ND lost a tough one last week. Viator got blitzed at home. ND has too much on offense and will bounce back.

Marist-42 Benet-21....Benet struggled on the green cement at Hanson, but got a hard fought victory. Marist's offense is now clicking. Benet's defense has played well this year, but they haven't faced an offense like the Redhawks. Benet typically struggles with speed. Marist has too much speed. In order for Marist to make a postseason run in 8A, they will need to play better defensively. They will also be tested in Weeks 8 & 9.

CoM-31 Pats-28....Pat's played Benet tough but lost a tough one at home. Agree that this is a must win for each team's playoff hopes. Not sure of the status of CoM's Jr. QB. He was impressive against JC. Pat's is tough at Hanson. This is a tossup. I believe the Corsairs have righted the ship.

Naz-49 Marian-7....long year in the Heights. Naz will take their foot off the gas early in this one.

JC-35 MCC-21....I will be interested to see MCC's game plan. Have to think they are going to mix it up more. I don't think pounding Peisert at the JC defense will be enough. Budamyr will need to have a big game. JC is vulnerable in kick coverage. If Peschke (sp?) can make a big return or two, it's game on. JC finally cleaned up the penalties against Viator last week and played their most mistake-free game thus far. Ironically, Mike Maloney's homecoming coincides with JC's Homecoming, which may have been a distraction if MCC didn't spring the big upset last week. Sharp will have the Hilltoppers focused.
