Last Week: 4-1
Overall: 12-3

Past the halfway point of the regular season and the ESCC is as confusing as ever. Let's see if we can make any sense of it:

CoM-41 Viator-21...After 3 straight blowout losses, the Lions are reeling. After two big wins, the Corsairs are suddenly thinking playoffs.

Marist-49 Pats-35...Shamrocks have lost a couple tough games in a row. I can't see their defense slowing down the RedHawks this week. Absolute must win game for Marist as pointed out below...

JCA-52 Marian-0...n/c

Naz-42 Benet-14...Benet pulled through in a must-win game last week and looked impressive in doing so. However, I don't see how their defense can keep up with the speed of Naz.

ND-28 MCC-22 (GOTW)...This one should do a bit of work to clear up some of the confusion in the ESCC. I think the Dons pull through in front of what is sure to be a packed Legends Field for Homecoming. It's a bit of a coin flip though.

PLAYOFF OUTLOOK (w/ my very unscientific percentage likelihood of the team qualifying) (also, I am paying no attention to playoff points at this point...just assuming 5-4 means playoffs):

1. JCA (100%)
Remaining games:
@ Marian (W), vs. Naz (W), @ Benet (W), vs. Marist (W)
Predicted Finish: 9-0

2. Benet (99.5%)
@ Naz (L), @ CoM (L), vs. JCA (L), @ Marian Catholic (W)
Predicted Finish: 5-4

3. MCC (95%)
@ ND (L), vs. Viator (W), vs. CoM (W), @ St. Patrick (W)
Predicted Finish: 7-2

4. Naz (99.5%)
vs. Benet (W), @ JCA (L), vs. Marist (W), @ Viator (W)
Predicted Finish: 7-2

5. Notre Dame (99.5%)
vs. MCC (W), @ Pats (W), @ Marian (W), vs. CoM (L)
Predicted Finish: 7-2

6. Marist (75%)
vs. Pats (W), vs. Marian (W), @ Naz (L), @ JCA (L)
Predicted Finish: 5-4

7. CoM (49%)
vs. Viator (W), vs. Benet (W), @ MCC (L), @ ND (W)
Predicted Finish: 5-4

8. Pat's (15%)
@ Marist (L), vs. ND (L), @ Viator (W), vs. MCC (L)
Predicted Finish: 3-6

Nice work, as always, ESCC fan. As far as the playoff outlook, I think you rate MCC too highly and Benet too low. I'm still withholding judgment on Naz. I want to see how the Benet game goes. Even though Benet beat Marist, I thought Marist was the better team. I'm surprised we haven't heard more about an offensive face mask call that nullified a Marist TD, which would have put them up 32-22 with 6 minutes remaining in the game. Offensive face mask? Was that a "hands to the face" similar to what's called in the NFL? If not, I'm not sure what that call entailed.

CoM 35 Viator 21 - the Corsairs have gotten it together. They have offensive weapons. If the defense plays well, they have a chance at the playoffs. Viator's opening loss by one to Rolling Meadows seems to have set the tone for their season.

Marist 49 Pat's 28 - Pat's can score points and are coming off two tough losses. Unfortunately, they catch Marist after a tough loss. The Redhawks will be highly motivated and will bounce back at home.

JCA 49 Marian 7 - long year in the Heights.

Naz 35 Benet 24 - I didn't think Benet would be able to contain Marist's speed, but they did a pretty good job. Benet also has more speed at the skill positions than they have had in recent years. They also have good line play and a very good MLB in Weidenbach. This is the best Benet team in awhile. Will they be able to contain Naz' speed? I see this game as fairly close with Naz pulling away in the 2nd half.

ND 35 MCC 21 - ND's offense has been clicking all year. MCC's defense played well against JC in the first half. They just couldn't generate enough offense (107 total yards) against the Hilltoppers. MCC plays with an edge. They will need that to stay in the game against the Dons.

Watched that Marist Benet game and really didn't see the penalty that they called. I may just be biased, But either way Marist lost the game. They had few different opportunities and turned over the ball. Stopped benet late and had chance to get ball back and go win the game but they muffed the punt.
