St. Pats-24 St. Viator-21...After two rough weeks, the Shamrocks find themselves at 4-2 with three tough games left to play. I think they punch their ticket this week and the Lions take care of Naz next week to get in.

Marist-42 Naz-13...The RedHawks are looking very tough to slow down. Can't wait to see them against Benet next week.

Dons-49 Marian-7...Dons punch their ticket.

Benet-31 JCA-13...Hilltoppers will get that much sought after first win next week.

CoM-17 MCC-14...Huge battle between 3-3 teams trying to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Pat's 35 Viator 28....this is the toughest game to pick this week IMO. Viator has been playing well and Pat's is coming off a 2-game losing streak. Give Pat's the slight edge at home at Hanson at 12:30 Saturday.

Marist 17 Naz 3....was very surprised at how much Naz struggled last week against a JCA defense that has not stopped anyone this year. They seem to have some good athletes on offense, but appear to be out of sync. Not a good thing in Week 6. Marist seems to have gotten their offense untracked. Their defense has been playing well all year. Naz' defense is very good as well. I just don't see Naz scoring much on this Redhawk defense.

ND 42 Marian 7....what happened to the Dons last week against CoM? They get back on track this week.

Benet 35 JCA 7....I'm not sure I can recall a game in this series where Benet was such a prohibitive favorite. The big one is next week on the road at Marist.

CoM 14 MCC 10....this is a must win for each's playoff hopes with both at 3-3. Honestly, I don't see either team making the playoffs since each of their last two games are on the road against tough foes. The game is in Woodstock, but Carmel's defense has been playing very well. I'm guessing that will be the difference.

CCHS hosts the Shamrock next week. Our week nine is on the road in Lisle vs. BA.

I need to stop relying on the IHSA website. Looks like they got that wrong along with a number of other home/away listings this year.

My predictions stink, so I will just say I hope CCHS wins. Wouldn't you know JCA is not on the schedule the ONE year we MIGHT beat them.

How about Viator? I don't think they've ever beaten JCA. They've come close numerous times. They don't play this year. I would have liked their chances this year.

Will Naz make the playoffs?
At 3-3 right now.
-Marist beats them by 2 scores at least. Could get beat by 3-4 scores.
-St. Viator is playing much better, game is a toss up. It's a home game for Viator so that helps them.
-Marian Catholic is a win.

Viator game is the difference. Who ever turns the ball over least and makes the fewest penalties will win, which if I had to put money down right now would be Viator. 4-5 for Nazareth.

Not sure what is surprising. They are playing underclassmen galore.

What hasn't been mentioned is they have been playing without their starting QB since week 2. Couple that with all new faces thanks to 2 crippling transfers and over 10 sophomores and freshman starting and none of their results surprise me. Get your lumps in while you can this year ESCC because in the future o_O

I'll take your word for it. Once again, the white numbers on white jerseys made it difficult to discern who was playing where for the Roadrunners. Seems to be a theme in the ESCC.

Not seeing Marist losing again reg season with both Naz and JC down and Benet at home. Marist better equipt this year with a defense, don't have to be clicking on offense like last year.

I would agree with you, however, have seen both teams play.

Naz will not get it done, they don't match up at all.

not to sure loss of starting qb 3rd. week for nazareth is part of the problem. yes yes they are young, but start learning from your mistakes instead of making the same ones over and over. same mistakes and penalties every game. i sure hope they grow up by next year..........UGH !

JCA and Naz both, just so young.

To start the year I underestimated how young the Roadrunners were. I thought there would be more reps from the upperclassmen. Some injuries and better play from some youngsters changed that up. The defense has some experience in the front seven, but even there you see FR and SO with big roles.

Shout out to Samps and Dunn, they have been standouts among the experienced players.

Also like QB Rouse. When he learns progressions he can be a college player at some level. Huge arm, big and mobile. Needs some time under center to sharpen up reads. Terrific talent, just raw.

6 seems very unlikely, but do they sqeak in with 5? Last 5 win Naz team didn't have enough Playoff points.

I would think 5 wins gets you in with that schedule.

But, how does the whole CPS situation affect playoff points? This is going to be a big ball of wax to watch unfold the next few weeks.

Illini14,

Nothing to do with schedule this year it would be points, who would have ever thought JCA would only contribute 1 point to their likely 37 point total. Any other year they'd be in the low 40's with the schedule.

Very true, good point.

However, this has been somewhat expected this year that JCA was going to be drastically down, not this down, but down, if I'm making the schedule I might want to bolster the non-con schedule to get some more points in there.

But then again, you don't expect two of your best kids to transfer out and your QB to be out week 3, and weren't expecting to be looking at 5 wins either and praying for playoff points.

You are correct Illini14, if you would have told me last year at this time that I'd be in Pennsylvania I would have fallen over laughing at you. Having AJ get injured going into team camp and then losing Zach has also been a tough road to ride. While we are not there physically I can tell you my two boys that played on last years and the prior years state title teams and our family ride this emotional roller coaster every Friday night!

Very true, good point.

Viator is having a nice season. They are now 5-2 after the 27-21 win over Pat's at Hanson. They had some nice talent on the lower levels last year, and the new coach has obviously done a good job. They seem to be a program on the rise in the ESCC. They can end Naz' playoff hopes and cement their own in Week 8 in Arlington Heights. That's shaping up to be a tough game for the Roadrunners.
