ESCC Week 9 Predictions

Final week of the season and the conference title is on the line (thanks to ND's favorable schedule...but we work with what we are dealt).

Naz-49 Viator-8....Lions finish up a very rough season. Naz marches into the playoffs primed and ready.

JCA-48 Marist-38...Offensive showdown with JCA's running game getting back on track.

MCC-34 Pats-14...Hurricanes finish an impressive 7-2.

Benet-41 Marian-0...Redwings are a team to watch in the playoffs, imo.

CoM-26 ND-24...ND has not beaten the Corsairs since 1998, I believe. Even in 2012 and 2013 when the Dons had a couple of their best teams and CoM had very weak teams, it wasn't enough. The struggle continues this year and JCA clinches the title.

Once again, thanks to ESCC fan for continuing the tradition of the ESCC prediction thread. It's become an Edgy staple.

Naz 42 Viator 7....the Lions offense never got going in conference. Naz has dialed it up offensively the last 6 quarters. They will continue to roll.

Marist 42 JCA 28....this one hinges on who returns for JCA. I'm guessing many of the injured will be held out another week. The Redhawks will put up points on what has become a vulnerable JC defense. Benet shut down the JC running game last week. Can they get it back on track?

MCC 28 Pat's 24.....this is a welcome to the ESCC moment for the Hurricanes.....playing Pat's on Saturday at 11:15 on the green cement at Hanson. It's as unique an experience as playing a Friday night game in Woodstock. Enjoy.

Benet 42 Marian 0....a long year comes to a merciful end in the Heights. It all depends on the 7A draw for the Redwings.

ND 35 CoM 21....was not aware of the historical struggles of ND vs. CoM. The Dons are rolling, and the game is in Niles. They will put the finishing touches on a disappointing year for the Corsairs. Have to like the ND offense. This is an important game for 8A seeding purposes for ND.

ND has been playing great ball this year, no doubt! I think they can win a game or two in the playoffs.

However, they were also playing great ball in 2013 led by Chris James. Then they lost their final game of the regular season to CoM...and it just so happened to be one of Carmel's only two wins that season.

Hoping my Dons prove me wrong Friday though and clinch a share of the conference title!

CoM was 1-7 going into week 9 in 2013. Against the Dons it was the only game that their starting FB played in as he was out all season with an injury.in 2013 CoM held the lead in the 4th qtr 3-4 games only get hurt by turnovers. This years team is simliar, turnovers have killed them. Last Friday they battled MCC until they turned it over on 3 consecutive drives in the 4th qtr. losing their TE has allowed opposing defenses to focus solely on stopping Jamison their fullback

Again Benet is having a great year and they beat JCA but it was a fluke. MCC is having a great year and they beat NAZ but it was a fluke. No other team is good but those 2. What the hell has NAZ done in the last 10 years? Nothing but they are the cream of the crop. Give me a break. They lost to a team that has multiple losses and so do they. In any other ranking or playoff seeding MCC would be seeded higher than NAZ. But NO its NAZ they are great. 2 losses people 2 losses. JCA lost to a very good Benet team. Just because NAZ beat them JCA should of destroyed them. WRONG!!!! But again it was a fluke they were coming off of a win that might of been the greatest game ever to be played in the history of football that's why JCA lost. If ND wins this weekend they deserve to be ESCC champions. Whatever happens in the playoffs happens. Sorry we cant be in that really hard 5a or 6a bracket. Talk about delusional. You were in that "really hard " 6A bracket because ND wasn't good enough to be multiplied 3 short years ago. And they STILL couldn't get out of the Quarters. In fact ND is 2-8 vs. Naz in the last 10 games and I couldn't even find a time in recent history they beat Carmel. So even though NND might be better team this year. I'll still take Carmel based on history.

Looking at the ESCC, every week is a battle no matter who you play. The fact is( I hate saying it) ND is pretty good this year. So what thay they havent played Naz or JCA, I believe they have enough offense to stay with either team. You will have 6 teams make the playoffs this year and hope all 6 do well. Someone said Benet stinks, they are 6-2, how bad can they be? They just beat JCA, great win, what else do you want from them??? Until the ESCC goes to 12 teams you will have this problem every year with some teams not playing each other. If you have 12 teams you make two seperate divisions like the CCL. Why not have a 6 way tie for 1st this year, how crazy would that be? Just shows that there is some parity in the conference. Utlimately, you want to see deep runs by every team that makes the playoffs...

The main point is while ND had a good team this year, they still did not play the 2 best teams in the ESCC and will be given the conference crown if they win. Even if you argue that ND simply played the hand they were delt with and won, by not playing the 2 best teams at the very least raises questions about the process, does it not? If you can not see that you are blind.
