My senior year, finals were to be a coronation and we played some stupid veer option team that made us count guys coming out of the backfield and assignments and all that crap - instead of just go with total reckless abandon ... we gave up some points stupid points.

Very possible that the Flyers experience the same. Stupid option crap!

Since you are one of the remaining few ESL posters NOT on "Ignore", I just wanted to say good luck Saturday, you guys have a great team.
Flyer and Tez are cool. They know their boys are badass. They don’t need to shout it. Good luck to the Flyers this weekend! I remember talking with a bunch of ESL supporters after the ‘16 championship - before my Ramblers got beat by the Hawks. Could not have been more gracious. Great program! All gas no brakes!

Great offense to run when you are ahead. Catching up? Not so much. Flyers score early and often and roll big in this one.
I’ve seen this exact offense you speak of score 42 points in 1 quarter. I’m sure that won’t happen and Saturday but they are quite capable of putting up a lot of points Quickly.

Can we switch the venue to PRHS on our destroyed field?

No sir - gonna be in turf! But the wind will make this a ground day, I suspect. Game will go by quickly!

Well... the good news is they’ve played Simeon, who likes to play a similar style of ball, and also has a comparable make up- big lineman and speedy wideouts. We all know PR man handled Simeon, and not one person on the board predicted that...

Bad news is ESL has top tier talent at all positions, and hasn’t been slowed down since week 2.

Most kids enjoy the being underdog; I’m sure the PR Coaches are telling those kids “they don’t expect us to show up and play, prove them wrong!!...”

Enjoy the holiday, and there’s never shame in the outcome when kids give their best effort...

@corey90

They are the outliers...I have found the ESL fans over the years to be great fans and better cooks; and we all know my love of food!
Agreed. Been to several ESL games over the years and their fans are awesome. Very knowledgeable and aware of their programs place in history. They understand they are going to get every teams best shot and love the challenge. Great folks to be around win or lose.

Determined to start **** then hide! SMH. No ESL fan has made a negative comment towards PR. Not one!

Don’t make me look through the threads. Their are a few that have really been over the top on how great they are. Any who I hope they play a good clean game and the Refs are not part of the outcome. Happy Thanksgiving LHST

Happy Thanksgiving. The argument or defense was about best team in the state comparing games that have been played. Not one person made a statement about the up coming game in a negative way.

Don’t eat too much though, we have a lot of typing to do before games start tomorrow. LOL

I think that's a bit of overstatement, they are in the same universe :) PR blew them out, running clock 49-0...Mt. Carmel beat Simeon 24 - 8, the Caravan are as good as anyone, and I know comparing scores is not everything..PR will give ESL trouble

I think this game might be closer than we think. Crappy weather can play a big part. If ESL’s passing is hindered and PR can do clock control and chip away on the ground, a la CG last year, who knows? It’s all about keeping the playmakers off the field. Mother Nature is gonna be somebody’s friend tomorrow. Or maybe I’m not thinking clearly from all that tryptophan yesterday.

I was simply pointing out that defensively PR did extremely well playing a similar offensive scheme (Simeon). Obviously, the Flyers personnel is on a different level. Both, Simeon nor Phillips compares in that regard...

Was just watching some NFL commentary about the Ravens and San Fran.

The Ravens use so much motion and it means assignment football, counting guys, that jams you up mentally. Their athletes can’t just play, they have to think.

Stupid option!

I agree, PR has an offense than can eat clock, but here's what nobody is talking about. The ESL running game.

If weather affects the passing game, ESL is still going to spread the PR defense out with formations and the threat of stretching the field. This will give that big offensive line fewer defenders in the box and #4 and #5 are going to run wild.

Bottom line, PR can take chunks of time off the clock with long scoring drives, but ESL has the speed and talent to bust one at any time. The Flyers can rack up points on the ground as well as in the air and that's what makes them so tough to defend.

key to the game is ESL OL. Can PR pressure and confuse their OL. play off blocks, create piles, and stay in their pursuit lanes. keep the ESL shoulders turned to the sidelines and not the end zone. Easier said than done.

Not having watched one once of film other than clips: do that, run the ball and keep it out of the ESL hands and you CAN win.

I always go character over athletism... bad thing is I think Coach Sunkett builds both down in his program and that makes a winning combo that's just might be too much to overcome.
