I'm somewhat surprised CC says Falzon was a starter before he went down. I'm wondering who replaced him. Lindsey? Lumpkin?

It simply makes me wonder who Falzon was out-playing and how much he had improved.

Isn't he referring to Falzon being a starter as a freshman last year? I think he started most games.

Absolutely! I believe Collins loves it here, and he's building his own legacy. He doesn't want to follow in Coach K's footsteps, he wants his own program.

Step back a little and think about it. It's pretty amazing what he's doing with this roster.

Yeah I think we had this debate a bit before his injury who Vic would replace in the starting lineup out of Scottie Falzon and Sanjay. I thought the general consensus was BMac Scottie Vic Falzon Dererk. I think I suggested Sanjay would play 15 mpg at one point and was told that was way too high, that his skills were "limited", and that with him on offense we were playing "4 on 5". After the injury (along with the one to Rap) the starting 5 became more clear.

Regardless of how any of that sounds in retrospect, it's fair to say that with all the injuries we've sustained before and during the season, every bit of depth that we have has been necessary and will continue to be so the rest of the way.

I know this is a ways ahead, but at some point in the not too distant future we may be faced with the unusual problem (for us) of playing multiple games in consecutive days in the BTT.... though getting a top 4 seed could help alleviate that considerably.

Clearly he is a good coach; recruits well, develops well and makes good in game decisions. This season alone shows he can do what no one else as been able to do (I'm assuming we win one or two more games and get into the tournament. )
It will be interesting to see if he is a Great coach who can get NU to the tournament 9 of 10 years going forward. I'm not a BB expert but it does seem like CC has a real shot of being a really great coach in his career.

I've been blow away by how creative CC has been with this roster - we've seen so many different line up combinations throughout the season. Along those same lines, think of all the players who have manned multiple positions on the floor (Brown, Law, Lindsey, Skelly). I know Collins tends to put less credence on traditional positional roles, but the flexibility of the student athletes he's brought into the program and the work he's done with holdovers like Lumpkin/Tap has been outstanding.

Hard to think of anyone more deserving of BIG COY. Turgeon might be his only competition.

Also, I don't think enough is said about the assistant coaches - Brian James, Pat Baldwin, Armon Gates. Collectively, they've done a masterful coaching job after losing two key players to injury before the season started, then during the season losing Pardon and Lindsey for several games each. I'm sure Chris gets advice from his dad Doug on a regular basis too. It's always fun to see Doug Collins in the stands during Wildcat games, he is so into the game and most of the time looks like he's going to lose it any second.
