The problem is that they put a team in the top 25 without beating anyone in the top 25 to get there. UL fans do a lot of puffing out their chests about their football success the last 15 or so years but have very few signature wins to show for it

But the signature wins and a Sugar Bowl/Orange Bowl are nice...plus the amount of NFL Players the past 4 years helps as well.

Outside of Mark Schbaugh-(ESPN Top 25) everyone else has UofL in the 2016 Way to Early...now they have to go out and prove they are as good on paper in 2016 as they appear to be

I always did believe Schbaugh to be rather insightful, and now, more so than ever. :)

If Kentucky doesn't win 6 games this year you have the wrong guy

4th year as HC.

scar and mizzou are bad with brand new coaches. vandy is vandy. There is 3 sec wins.

3 of 4 in OOC with Louisville being a possible 4th win.

Wake won the ACC over FSU and Clemson-(same division as well)...Louisville took care of business as they did over then #3 Florida a few years later.

This year is a must to get either FSU @ Home or Clemson/Houston on the road

It's not quite as simple at that. We have two absolute cupcakes but our other four so-called wins are hardly cupcakes. Assuming that we'd be favored to win them all, which is a big question mark to begin with, we'd be around 60% likely to beat VU and USC, 55% likely to beat Mizzou, and maybe 65% likely to beat S. Miss. Winning an individual game is one thing but winning all four is another matter altogether. I suspect we'll lose at least one of those games, so we will have to pull an upset, with Miss. St, UF, and UofLoL being the most likely.

Still, Wake wasn't particularly good that year. In searching for signature wins in the history of Louisville, I am having a difficult time finding a lot of them.

That may be the case even though they still finished in the Top 25 in 2006...Louisville was ranked most of the past 5 years....finished 2012, 2013 & 2014 in All Top 25 Rankings...will likely start 2016 also in the AP & Coaches Top 25 as well....

I am a big believer that UL is built on a false foundation, but I do give them credit for taking advantages of some opportunities over the years. They beat UF. That's a signature win, can't deny it. Was UF wanting to be there? Probably not. But UL showed up and beat them handily. Same with A&M this year.

I get tired of TPE throwing out the same facts that we all know (been in top 25 last few years, been in the orange bowl, blah blah blah) b/c his points are almost completely irrelevant when it comes to the fact that many of us feel that UL USED THAT FALSE FOUNDATION (I.E. weak schedules) to get into that orange bowl and that sugar bowl. We get it, you went to the orange bowl. Our point is that you never should have gotten into the orange bowl.

Now cue the, "we play the schedule that was in front of us" and "we are ranked in the top 25 by Mark Schlabach and Sportsbook nation" replies...

Stuck...that the system College Football has and it been like that for a while...Louisville, TCU-(2 Former C-USA Schools) and Utah took advantage of what they had and moved up in the pecking order.

Whether anyone feels deserved or not...those high profile win/Top 25 Finishes those 3 schools have counts and Louisville and TCU will be in 2016 likely Top 25...and Utah-(Former WAC/MWC) will not be far behind.

Shouldn't have went to the Orange Bowl? In 2006? Louisville beat 9 bowl teams that year. That team was "very" good, and definitely BCS-bowl worthy. The 2004 and 2013 teams were "very" good as well, despite soft schedules. Those teams were full of NFL players on both sides of the ball.

Well, naturally Jackson needs to improve in his passing game. He was the 5th highest rated t-FR in QB rating finishing #71 nationally. I think he can/should improve. Will he? I don't know. However, I think the single biggest required improvement overall is generating a better run game outside of Jackson.

How long has it been? FL in 2012? Over the years the Cards have not had too many shots at a Top 25 team but that is changing with the ACC memberships, both from a regular season and kickoff/bowl opportunities. As for Top 25 teams it is certainly nice to get a big win but I would personally rather finish in the Top 25 than just claim a victory over a Top 25 team.

Notwithstanding a possible Top 25 bowl opponent the Cards will likely have 3 shots at a Top 25 regular season opponent next year, @ Clemson, FSU @ home and @ Houston. The UH game has now been moved to a Thursday thus shortening the prep time. Those will be tough games. Card fans are now experiencing what Cat fans have felt for years, the top part of the schedule is very tough and you can't sleep on anybody in the middle.

Peace
Agree with this take. Need a more consistent passing game to move chains because d's will adjust some to Lamar next year. That will mean a better Oline and running attack to help. But defense and Lamar will keep you in every game with a chance to win, just need the other thing s to happen to improve on this year. I'd give you 15 to 20 rank

Lamar Jackson lit us up, and he also played great against Texas A&M. As such, Louisville fans believe him to be a god, and, the general consensus on this board seems to be in agreement. My question, is why was Kyle Bolin starting against UK? Not in Week 4, or Week 6, but in Week 12?

I won't even ask this of UofLoL fans, but instead, to UK fans who are entranced by him- why were even UofLoL fans calling for his head throughout most of the season, and do two good games, at the end of the year, really guarantee his spot in college football immortality?

It's hard to really accurately assess how good a midmajor team is, against midmajor schedules.

What have we done to warrant a ranking hire than 54 and dead least in the SEC?

I'm surprised we're not dead last...

we got beat by vandy for crying out loud...

Lost our Veteran QB...

New offensive staff...

don't really have a stable QB situation...our choice is an unproven back up who failed to impress when given the opportunity last season and a juco transfer...

Ansley is gone...

folks, we got a long hard haul in front of us...
Help at qb is here with Johnson. He looks like a player and highly skilled accord to videos.
