NFL insider John Clayton is leaving ESPN as part of the sweeping layoffs, according to SN's @MMcCarthyREV. http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/news/john-clayton-espn-layoffs-trent-dilfer-ed-werder-sportscenter-the-professor/9465isqoefmg1ihos9tux9e6z…

God i hope they don't get rid of jemelle and stephen a.

You'll NEVER have to worry about those 2. ESPN has this ridiculous obsession with offending the very fan base that made it the "Worldwide Leader in Sports" and those 2 are more than happy to oblige.:D

They'll be playing in the band when the "Mothership" finally completely sinks.[laughing]

Obviously, I'm not the demographic that ESPN is trying to please.

I miss the days when ESPN reported the news and MTV and VH1 played music videos and there was no such thing as "reality TV."

It's a young man's world and I'm just trying to find a TV station that wants to please me and other 50-year olds. Apparently, there are absolutely NO advertisers that want to speak to me.

I don't believe ratings are what they care about. Other uber liberal networks have terrible ratings and it not only doesn't stop them, it seems to encourage more. The money from that side to promote causes is endless, lots of foreign cash flows through back channels. Not a political post, a true one. It's just the way it is.

If ratings mattered MSNBC and CNN would have been toast years ago. Follow the money.

I agree.

The networks/advertisers should be catering to our(I'm 50 also) age group considering we are the only ones watching TV now. This younger generation gets EVERYTHING from their phone or a Computer/ROKU/Game Console.

He doesn't fit their profile.
Not blond enough and too flat chested.

For many these days it's ME-TV, GRIT, etc on subchannels and Netflex, etc to watch what you want and screw the advertisers.

I guess ratings and buzz are all that matters now at ESPN. You get rid of good reporters like Clayton, Werder, Katz, etc, and wonder why you're going down hill?!?!

He's one of my favorites. What he did for my packers in 96 was phenomenal.
I wouldn't mind if they'd hired him as a return man/receiver for their office team. He and corso's continued descent make Game day unwatchable for me.

These clowns - ESPN - have doubled-down on this crap show. Every other commercial on SEC Network is a promo for those two. [sick]:uzi:

Journalistic integrity isn't "in" at ESpin now. Gotta have the vapid, globalist, pretty boy/girl hosts telling us what's popular and important.
They're following the MTV formula. Actually, it's getting harder to tell those two networks apart. Coming up next, Catfishing with Stephen A.

Lee Corso just sign a contract extension- I don't mind him but man, after the stroke he has a hard time stringing words together. When the layoffs happened, the running count of names (Deadspin and a couple of other places) was around 65. They supposedly let go of a hundred - there are several more we haven't heard about yet.....

It is ESPN, hard not to include politics.
ESPN created a network devoting time to sports AND political ideology, not general politics.

Calling them on the liberal propaganda is fair game. They chose that road and we are allowed to comment on it whenever we want, just like they comment on it whenever they want.

So they are obnoxious shoving their beliefs down our throats so we will be obnoxious and shove our beliefs on the posters here.Okay makes sense.

ESPN is definitely fulfilling a business strategy that includes a very noticeable left wing bend. The audience they are catering to is demanding more entertainment rather than hardcore factoids. Whether anyone here likes it or not, the vast majority of their viewership supports political discussion with a left bend. It's just how it is, times change. The US is no longer the "center right" country I had known growing up, it's becoming more and more left with each new social crusade that comes through the pipe. We aren't really a nation with set morals a values - as shown by the pendulum effect of our political direction every election cycle. We've been swinging left for a while, everything else that could say otherwise is just semantics.

I thought we decided all these layoffs were because of their liberal views and all the patriots were turning the channel and destroying the monster?
