What? We were never unanimous #1! Duke always got at least 1vote. Now UVA gets 2 and ESPN states this?

They are so ignorant!!

They'll be saying this for 2 more weeks, because Virginia plays absolutely no one (so look out they could lose). Then, they have to play Duke, UNC, and UL over an 8 day span. Don't think they will survive that stretch. Then we'll get our votes back.

We have to play @Alabama and @SC the next two Saturdays. Things will get interesting, although I think we win both.

ESPN needs drama.... UK is the top ranked team and a perfect targer.... What else is new in the college basketball world.... Ever since Cal said that he would love to go undefeated one season... ESPN, that was his goal...... What other college coaches has that dream? It's just that UK is a team that could do it.....

We get no trophies for being a unanimous #1 until after we play the final game in April.

Probably just giving props to Virginia for a pretty impressive start to their season. Won at Notre Dame, VCU, and Maryland. Not too shabby.

I couldn't care less. We don't really deserve to be unanimous #1 after this past week. It's pretty easy to justify another team being ranked ahead of us. Plus, it's early January - a loss may even do us some good.

Well I am going to agree with Vandal. ( he'll be thrilled to hear that)

I'll go one step further and say Virginia would have beat us the last 2 games.

But when the paint dries, we will still be #1 at the end.

I'm not so sure about that. We seem to have played pretty well this season against teams with a single digit number in front of them. I believe they would have had our full attention. Now if they had snuck in before the game and put on the A&M jerseys or the Ole Miss unis then yeah you may be right.

The flaw with your logic is that UK would not have played that way against UVA.

Maybe so #8. But my point is that had we played this say against them we probably lose at least one. It's all subjective anyway and there is no way to prove either's point.

Overall, we are still better. Just not playing like it right now, IMO.

I'm sure we agree on most everything. Virginia is probably playing better than us right now, but we'll be better than them (and everyone else) by March.

Cal knows what he's doing.

I can't wait to see the media's reaction if/when we start putting things back together and start beating teams, like they were Kansas, again. That will be enjoyable to watch and read. The media and other teams are under the false impression that we are imploding and it's just a matter of time before the wheels come off. Once we put some beat downs on some teams again their fear and our swagger will be back in full force.

I really don't care. They've got to do something to try to draw in fan interest outside of Kentucky. I think we all expected a couple votes for Virginia in each poll. It's no shock. We had 2 overtime games against teams considered to be weaker teams. This is the result. But we're still number 1 so I don't care.

As for ESPN, their making a story out of this is just par for the course. Ho hum.

I don't necessarily care about unanimous rankings...I do care about the number of weeks ranked #1 though.

For each one we add, we cut into UNC and Duke's numbers and you know the UNC numbers are dirty.

I find it funny how many UK fans get so bent out of shape when someone doesn't give 100% of their love to UK. If a coach, broadcaster, or whomever says one bad thing or just slightly questioning UK in anyway, they are looked at as an enemy and anything they say should be looked at as garbage. LOL

Get over it children...

ESPN is full of biased haters

Kentucky started out #1 and hasn't lost, thus ,any other reasoning is either biased hate or pure stupidity

You'll never see a negative headline about Duke or UNC on ESPN

That's just not true. If I were a voter, I would vote the team as number one the team that I feel is the best. If I felt it was Kentucky one week and Virginia the next, I'd switch it, even if neither had lost. Wins/Losses don't matter as much as looking good/resume when basically splitting hairs among a couple of undefeated teams.

Virginia has 3 good road wins at ND, Maryland and I guess VCU, but still no extremely strong teams there.

VCU is another one of those teams I roll my eyes at a bit with their ranking. They are getting it on name alone, just like WSU this year. You look at their schedule and just kinda go hmmm when you look for a good win. Davidson, Oregon, Cincy, UT? Yeah ok...those are some average wins, but nothing special.

Until just a few hours ago, there was a Duke losing headline. Also, the bolded is terribly illogical, and that type of attitude makes people look down on the fan base.

You know we're in another golden age when fans complain about not being voted a unanimous #1.

We are hilarious. We will, from now on, refer to greatness not as a ranking, but as how many 1st place votes we get.

Who wants to be unanimous #1? That just means the other teams aren't even good enough to compete. I want to win it all with lots of close teams nipping at our heels.
