My impressions of Romel Goston: I have been able to see Romel Goston a handful of times at various 7on7 events playing for Chris James HeroH group along with seeing him at a few showcase events. Goston, who was a two way starter for Raby in 2017 has an early offer from NIU.
Evaluation of Romel Goston: Goston is another intriguing name to watch this coming spring evaluation period in my opinion. Goston, who was an impact player in all phases for Raby last season has all the makings of becoming a high college level cornerback. Goston has legit size and better than I expected length and reach. Goston has a great nose for the football, can back peddle, plant and flip his hips in coverage naturally. Goston also has very good overall speed and terrific closing speed as well. Goston has strong ball skills and awareness, can play man or zone equally as well. Goston is also not afraid of contact, and I feel Goston is a plus hitter and tackler. Goston as a receiver is also just a well rounded and sound receiver. Goston has good hands and speed and is more than capable of shaking tackles. Goston also can be a big play threat when required on either side of the football.
Questions or possible room for improvement for Romel Goston? Again I see a lot to like here with Romel Goston. Goston will need to continue to improve his overall speed and quickness this off season. Goston will also need to add a bit more size and strength for the college level.
Projected level:
Rivals.com currently has Romel Goston as an unranked prospect.
Romel Goston for the most part has been pretty slept on by various colleges this winter and spring in my opinion. Goston has a ton of upside, strong overall game and physical tools and plays a position in serious need and demand. Goston has safety size yet also has the overall tools to play as a bigger corner at the high college level.
I will start off ranking Romel Goston as a low to mid 3 star ranked name, Goston I feel has the overall ability and talent level to play at the lower to mid tier Big Ten schools. Goston could very well wind up being a big time steal for say the MAC level schools. I would be stunned to not see Goston add more looks and eventual offers this spring and summer.
