Even when the NBA changes the O&D rule.. will we still be dealing with O&D issues?

Well another problem with “ paying athletes” is they are no longer student athletes.

Think of it like a 16 year old working at a supermarket. He has a boss, pays taxes and has a schedule. Sure he has minimum hours he can only work because of school and being part time but it’s still a job.

Once you enter into a binding contract and begin paying players, what do you dock them when they don’t play? What holds them out of a game? Because it’s a contract do you not pay them when they have to sit out because of bad grades or not living up to team or university rules? I’ve its what a player is worth do you see Reddish getting the same pay as Barrett and Zion? Do you not pay Goldwire or say Big V because they basically ride the pine or do you increase their pay yearly or off of incentives?

100% agree. I don’t think there’s any possible way to make it fair. I agree that blue chips (especially ones like Zion) make the NCAA and their respective school fat cash, but that’s part of the business. In return, shoe companies are paying these guys fat bucks and the NCAA is protecting them (of course until the FBI chimed in) — IMO its an unspoken agreement.

So, if they don't set the rule to be, "You can leave straight from High School or you must stay at least 2 seasons" then we could be in the same exact dilemma as we find ourselves in now.

Reason being, we won't get the top TOP guys anymore, but these lower tier top guys still believe that they are ready after one year all the time and after a decent year will be told they have that potential, thus causing them to leave early. All the one year rule does is make us get a lesser tier stud that still thinks they're good enough to head to the league.

We need the 2 year rule to truly benefit from the rule change.

Don't forget we can also get Livingston'd again. Get a commit from a kid who then decides to go to the draft instead.

The funny thing is that RAISING the age limit to 20 would solve everything. But in the end it’s a business... the NBA wants in the NCAA’s pocketbook.
