Everything Shane Beamer said during his Sunday night teleconference
One day after South Carolina’s 31-7 loss to Vanderbilt, head coach Shane Beamer spoke to the media in his weekly Sunday teleconference.
"So I don’t put a whole lot of stock into stats."Blind man talking!!!
what are your overall thoughts on the play calling and the job that Mike Shula has done so far?
“I think he’s done a good job. We all can be better. I think you can look at stats. We’ve played two Power Four teams. We’ve played an SEC team defensively. I think stats even themselves out as the year goes on. Our level of competition through three games, I mean, we’ve got some teams that just played their first Power Four team of the year yesterday. So I don’t put a whole lot of stock into stats. After three games, there’s no question we’re not good enough right now. The body of work is not what our standard is, and we all have to be better. Me, Mike, the offensive staff, the players.”
What was quoted made little sense. He could have summed it up in one line, "it is what it is."To be fair, hes uttering coachspeak. Those types of comments aren't worth anything.
Classic Spurrier line. Followed by his favorite segway: "But anyway".What was quoted made little sense. He could have summed it up in one line, "it is what it is."
No one who has good stats never said "I don't put a whole lot of stock into stats.""So I don’t put a whole lot of stock into stats."
Oh, so he's one of them "holistic" coaches. It's not about the Ws and Ls, it's about the friends you made along the way.
Until he acknowledges that he needs to surround himself with the best coaches that money can buy, I'm uninterested in what the boy coach has to say.![]()

I recall something he said early on - I don’t remember if this was before or after Bobo left. There was a perception that he was taking too long to put the staff together (I don’t know what constitutes too long just recall that). But addressing this at a press conference he stated how he wanted the right guys for the job, that he could pick up a phone and have the staff filled out anytime. This implies you have options and can be picky. That was never believable and it has been clear that offensively he either hasn’t had good options and/or has no clue what a good option is. Furthermore I have not been completely sold on White.Until he acknowledges that he needs to surround himself with the best coaches that money can by, I'm uninterested in what the boy coach has to say.
