From what I've read, Ewing was 5th choice behind Brey, Amaker, Mack & Cooley. NBA stars have not fared well as college coaches. Ewing has his work cut out.

SJU-Gtown games will be nauseating. It'll be about 1980's Big East instead of present day.

I love this hire. I've always been a big fan of Ewing. Good guy and I hope he has some success.

I'm afraid G'town will never be much good unless they get free of the John Thompson grip. All these years later and he still runs the show there.

What cracks me up is Thompson has all this power yet G'town has one title & it occurred 33 years ago. Boeheim falls into same category.

I have no idea how Ewing is as a recruiter, but he's been on the bench in the NBA for a long time now and never even really got close to landing a head coach job. His best work was a big man coach to Dwight Howard in Orlando and we see how that worked out. What is more concerning is that most executives want to see him succeed, but something just isn't there. Wish him the best of luck.

Prolly thinking that Ewing will give them a leg up on most with recruiting bigs. I know Ole Thompson always loved to recruit and land top tier big men. Ewing and Mourning come to mind along with others that I cant quite put a name to their face.
