Who are the terrible mods who allow a game day to happen without a game day thread? Gross. @krzyzewskiville will handle these during the season and we usually have some fill ins, but for exhibitions the walk-ons get a chance to play!

Well it's here folks!! The start of the season. The exhibitions don't mean much but you can learn a lot about a team and their outlook from their performance in these contests.

Virginia State was 24-6 last season and 14-2 in conference. They were actually undefeated on the road and beat perennial powerhouse Livingstone. They lost early in their tournament but return their top 2 players and have a really good sophomore ready to step up. They do have a 6'8 330lbs. bruiser who hopefully doesn't hurt any of our guys. He's a load.

We know our squad but the big thing will be who starts in place of Jayson. Here's my assumed starting lineup:

Frank
Grayson
Matt
Amile
Marques

Even if he doesn't start, I'm guessing we'll see plenty of Luke. He may even start instead of Frank which would tell us where his development at the position currently stands. I'm sure we can put up 100 on VSU, but I'd rather see this team hold them in the 50's or lower. I really want this to be a good defensive team. We have the athletes for it, we have the high IQ type of players and the depth. Seeing a Duke team that can cause turnovers again would really do my heart some good.

With that said, enjoy the game at 7 p.m. on WatchESPN and LET'S GO DUKE!!!!

Duke - 107
Virginia State - 54

I'm pulling for a Luke start. He dropped 44 in front of the pros, they said he was blistering hot from 3.

It's only a matter of time before he gets consistent and crushes. He's my candidate for next Duke player to stand a chance to get his jersey retired. Probably not but we'll at least talk about it.

I'll be there and I'm with show I think luke gets the start. Said it all off-season and I'll repeat it here, Luke should have a huge year. He is the absolute perfect piece to this team and should fill it up. He will be much more consistent this season than last.

If we can keep up the ball movement like that, we'll be unstoppable with all of these weapons.

Wow. Kennard and Bolden are both impressing me right now. Boldens so smart on defense for a young guy, and Kennard is just lights out right now.

Grayson and Luke are locked in like AimPoint baby. Bolden is gonna block a lot of shots this year.

Grayson just took a cheap shot. He's being tested early. Duke 40 Va. St. 23 about 2 minutes 1st half. OFC

Jeter not looking great, Kennard looks good, would like to feed Golden a little more but they're denying him and double teaming him every time he touches the ball.

Pecker head K-ville's Cubbies are about to host a world series game in about 70 plus years. He deserves a break. Just hope he knows Duke is playing tonight. OFC

Luke's got 17 in 1st. half. Playing well around. They are having a nice little feature on him at half time with him throwing the football to a couple of Duke receivers. Hope Coach Cut doesn't see it. Amile doing his thing. OFC

First off, Luke looks like he's gone to the next level. He is not only silky smooth shooting, he's defending great, handling the ball great and making great decisions. Bolden is raw but God he's gonna be good. And you don't put up a shot while he's on you, it will be swatted. Grayson drilling threes like normal. Amile rebounding well. Frank is just in wired up freshmen mode right now. Yep, he's turned it over a lot but that will fix itself soon enough. He has a great shot and he's athletic as hell, great at varying speeds too. Jeter just doesn't seem like he's there yet. What in the world will we look like with Tatum and Giles, holy freakin moly !
