The secret scrimmage vs Iowa State was an annual tradition for many seasons. It has been upgraded to an exhibition game this season (with a return game next season).

Now that it's open to the public, is anybody going?

It's open to my couch through ESPN+, Sunday, noon central.
When I go to Iowa State's and Northwestern's team page on the ESPN+ section of the app, it starts listing games in November (which leads me to believe that their formatting doesn't recognize exhibition games). When I also scan for "upcoming telecasts" neither page features this Sunday's tilt.

My understanding of these non-con games is that the home team's media affiliation will be the indicator (and XII's main media partner is ESPN, and they put all XII hosted games in Olympic sports on ESPN+). For example, I imagine next year's exhibition at W-R will be on B1G+ (or maybe the BTN if it's that slow of a sports day).

So...I'm hoping this is just a glitch, and that it would actually have it on the ESPN+ platform. I realize that ESPN itself is going through some transition with regards to launching their own app, and new tiers like "ESPN Unlimited" and whatnot, so wonder if this part of that fallout.

I have had ESPN+ in the past but don't anymore. So I don't know what it shows! I am able to see the games through other means.

A lot of the usual places where I can check where the game is showing, don't have it listed, like, for example, ESPN itself:

I don't think that's unusual for exhibition games as, if memory does not fail me, in previous years, those games were not listed either, even if they were shown on B1G+. I had to resort to checking the NU sports page itself. That's where I found the ESPN+ reference (Illinois State is also absent from other listings, but not the NU site):

Crossing my fingers we can watch the game on Sunday. I have some withdrawl from the long off season!

Surprising how little KJ is playing given everyone thought he was going to be the second leading scorer and some national reporters called him out as one of the breakout players of the Big Ten

It IS surprising, especially with two point guards out. I have to think they don’t want him to even accidentally play PG any more.

green is getting lots of run instead.

But he's not playing at all not any position which is really surprising considering how well he played at the end of last year. Something just doesn't seem right.

Also Mullins is hardly played at all as well. Seems like he's been replaced by Green

Will be interesting to see what this team looks like with our top PG's back. Hopefully fewer turnovers and better dribble penetration. Sloppy play today and lots of missed FT's. I like Singleton a lot.

Do you think he’s going to transfer? That would be unfortunate.

This is a really deep team and if Collins doesn't play 9 or 10 people there's going to be people on the team not happy with how much time they get. Green and page and Singleton look like they will contribute a lot, especially singleton and Paige since we don't have any other real height.. Nick looks the same as last year, did throw up a few right-handed layups though. Jello now looks a lot better. Clayton will probably play a lot and is actually making some shots.

Could it not be more obvious?

With players leaving at a drop of a hat - not so much NU - who can tell? This is an interesting year. Usually NU has at most seven who will play and the rest are practice fodder. Now there is an embarrassment of riches. No telling what might happen.

I think it may be likely that one of the five freshmen might leave in a year or two due to playing time.

The last recruiting class with 5 Freshmen was 2014 and indeed one left the program........the infamous Johnnie Vassar!
