Stoops has a very Saban like HC technique....Continually in the face of the coordinators. Difference is it's easier to accept an A$$ chewing in public when you're 12 & 0, than it is when you're 2 & 10.....JMO, but I think NB had enough of this among other things! And as bad as I hate to say it, I don't see Gran returning for another year.....Haven't seen MS go off on EG like he has the other OC's yet this year, but there are other determining factors.

Loosing Gran and Hinshaw would change everything. I hate to think of that. IMO Stoops wants to slow the game down and control the clock due to the lack of depth on the Defense. As that depth builds and he has more confidence that the D can force more three and outs, we should see the offense open up more... assuming we have a QB who can throw the HomeRun ball.
Why would any OC want to run "HIS" offense according to the wishes of someone else? He was given the title "Head Coach of Offense", part of his stipulation was that he would be free to run the offense as he wished.....Look for EG to be gone at seasons end if he has a way out.
I'm only speculating. There are likely other factors that have shifted the balance toward the run game. For example wanting to avoid turnovers while SJ gains confidence. EG could very well be the one making these decisions. Or at least CMS and EG could be absolutely on the same page. Given their history I would say they are indeed. This program needs EG. Expectations are definitely higher for long term success with him on board.
He was an extremely well thought of DC at a national powerhouse who brought recruiting to all time highs at UK, but just wasn't cut out to be a head coach, didn't have what it took. He was fired after 4 years but left the infrastructure and talent behind for the next guy, a guy who could coach, to come in and get things done.

And even that worthless sack managed to get to a bowl game by year 4.
More than wanting to, he has to with the O talent available. Does help D though. BTW, ain't losing G & H anytime soon.
That's good to know. With Stoops in control of the Defense, I really think this staff has a high ceiling. GO CATS!!
The only way Gran leaves is the same reason Brown left, he gets a head coach job. Other than there is absolutely no evidence, not even a trickling rumor that I have seen or heard that would lend one to believe there is anything other than a good relationship between Stoops and Gran (who are longtime friends). Likewise at no time during the Brown era have I heard anything indicating there was any friction between Stoops and Brown.
Stoops is the head coach and it's his job to orchestrate the entire game plan. The OC is totally focused on analyzing the opponent's defense, moving the chains and scoring. It is not the job of the OC to determine when to run clock or when to air it out, and the head coach is always going to be involved in the strategic decisions such as against Vandy late in the 4th for for the first down or kick the field goal. That's true for any team from high school to NFL.
